I was born in South Florida, grew-up in Central Florida, and stepped away for a 22-year career as a United States Marine. I retired in 2012 and began a career of ministry. Combat and personal tragedy shaped my passion for helping people find their joy and manage grief. I fished all over the world and find peace on the water. I became a credentialed captain to give others the chance to smile again as I did.

    Fantastic Trip!

Pesca en Aguas Costeras de 4 Horas "Grand Slam"4 adultos

We had a free day in Destin, so we decided to take a half day charter with our 80 year old Dad. We wanted to get him back on the boat again with a bent pole, and Capt. Rob over-delivered! Capt. Rob has made his vessel so he can accommodate ANYONE that wants to, can fish and smile again. He made sure Dad could board the boat effortlessly, and kept him comfortable the entire trip. The ride was silky smooth throughout the day. And we caught fish! As soon as we dropped in the first spot, Fish On! We had an action packed day and caught several Red Drum (Spot Tails) and two nice sheep’s head. Capt. Ron is courteous, professional, attentive to detail and tailors the trip to your needs. Not only is he a great Captain, but also a great Christian. We had a wonderful time making memories and talking about Jesus. Afterward he ensured Dad (and we) got off the boat safely, cleaned our catch, and invited us to join him again next time we are here. A very genuine man. We made a new friend today and will most definitely fish with him again soon. You should too!

The Foys were amazing! They are fantastic anglers from the great state of NC! We found lots of commonalities because I lived there for eight of my 22 years in the Marine Corps. The redfish were on fire and we had a bonus with two big sheepshead. Fellowship and fishing under a full, blue sky and warm sunshine with great Americans. We crossed the Choctawhatchee Bay twice without a single wave. It was glassy smooth. Carolina even rode back to Bluewater Bay Marine in the tower. Mr Roy (80) was able to move around comfortably because the Dorado has a flat deck from bow to stern. No steps too big for a man with limited mobility. This was a beautiful day with a great family. The Foys are always welcome aboard Dress Blues. Semper Fi, Captain Rob

    Loved it!

Captain Rob is great! He is very personable and very accommodating to novice anglers. He has no hesitation in assisting in any way he can whether that be casting, baiting, or just teaching some other basic fishing skills. Boat had plenty of room for 4 of us. Definitely recommend going out on a trip with him. We had a blast!

Mr Phil, Layne, Cam, and Jason were outstanding! some of the most respectful teenage boys I’ve been around in a long time. They caught about seven different species of fish in the three hours we had together. The Burkett family is always welcome aboard Dress Blues.

10lb sheepshead and 22” redfish

mar 20, 2026 • niceville
The bite came back late in the week. Live shrimp from Captain Hicks in Sara Ann Bayou, #2 mustad demon perfect circle hook, 30lb Andes Fluorocarbon, and 20lb Power pro super slick on a 3500 Penn Spinfisher V. Rigged modified Carolina style, presented the tailooked shrimp in the shadow of docks in 5-8’ of water around 65 degrees. If pinfish are present, keep moving. Redfish and sheep’s do not “nibble.” Watch out for predator dolphins when releasing your shorts. The 10lb sheepshead surprised us because they were mixed in with the redfish. Make some memories with L4K Charters.

11 y/o angler tags and releases his firs

dic 27, 2024 • niceville
The week of Christmas may not seem like the time to fish in Destin. However, there are fewer boats on the water meaning less pressure on the fish. This week we found some bull redfish under the Destin bridge. Outgoing tide, live shrimp on a 2/O demon perfect circle hook, 30lb Andes Fluorocarbon, 2oz lead on a L4K rig, and a Penn 4500 Spinfisher VI. Our tag 589 on a healthy release will be monitored by Coastal Resources. This fish was 9.5lbs and 32" long. Kian has been fishing with me for the past five years. I'm very proud of him.

Bending rods and making memories in Dest

jun 27, 2024 • niceville
Lady anglers are crushing it! Spotless redfish and big black drum made the Captain’s pic picks today. Live shrimp around docks and bridges. The only charter that still can get live shrimp in town! The water temp is very warm for this time of year. Finess fishing with 20lb braid on Penn 3500 Spinfisher VII tipped with 30lb flouro and a #2 Mustad circle hook. Come make some memories! Semper Fi, Captain Rob

Lady-Anglers Love REDFISH in September!

sep 28, 2019 • niceville
September afternoons in Destin, FL are tough on the Captain to find active fish. This week's hot weather and South wind made it seem impossible. However, we found this 25" Redfish in < 3' of murky water with an outgoing tide, hanging around schools of Sand Trout and Ladyfish. He and 18 of his smaller friends ate live Menhaden on a Carolina Rig tied to a 2/O Demon Perfect circle hook on 20lb Seaguar Red-Label fluorocarbon. We used a PENN Battle II 2500, 7' Extra Fast, Medium-Light Rod, loaded with 15lb Berkley Power-Pro super-slick braid. The hardest part is getting bait past the Mangrove Snappers and Pinfish. This lady-angler broke her own personal record with a 7-minute fight around dock pylons, heavy grass, and a set of deployed Power-Poles. The Captain finally netted the bull after three failed attempts. WOW! That fish went straight from live-well to grill for the freshest fish at the Hansill house--EVER! That was an exciting day aboard "at EASE!"

Slot REDFISH in the August HEAT

ago 14, 2019 • niceville
One last chance to take my son fishing before he heads back to college at UCF—we made some memories this morning! The forecast was 97 degrees with heat warning and 50% chance of rain. Glad we ignored the weather-guessers. It was hot, but the Bay was glassy with clear, moving water. After filling both live-wells with Menhaden, Hunter and I pitched live, nose-hooked baits on #1 Owner's Mutu Light Circle Hooks. 12lb. braid tipped with 15lb. mono and 20lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon Leader. We added 1/16th oz weight for casting. Targeting docks with boat lifts near grass-flats before the sun escaped the trees, we had fish in the boat nearly every cast. Smaller fish at first, but the larger Reds showed up as the morning progressed. Mangrove Snapper and Trout were eating too! The bite slowed down around 1000 and we headed to deeper pot-holes I have mapped on my Simrad thanks to ISLA imaging. We finished up at 11am with three more 20” Redfish. We released all of our fish for the next angler to enjoy. An epic day to motivate Hunter to make great grades on his journey to Med School. Come get your back-to-school fishing trip with Captain Rob!
