6 Hour Trip With Captain Mike

    7 Hour Trip

This is my second time in 2 months goin out with Captain Mike and The Hawg Hanger!!! Both times not only was it an amazing experience bein out on Mother Erie, it was great fishing!! First trip we went out on Niagara Reef which is SW of Put in Bay….. Instantly we were on walleye!! It was an amazing day and we all got our limits within the morning/afternoon. The second time I went out with Mike we headed out toward Canada NE of West Sister Island and again we were instantly catching walleye!!! This trip we had 8 of us and had our limits by 11am!!! Captain Mike sure knows when/where to put his crews on fish! His knowledge of Lake Erie and years of experience doing this 100% payoff! I highly recommend contacting him for an amazing trip out on Lake Erie!!!

Pulled Walleye on a cold day!

    7 Hour Trip

So I booked a trip with Mike. I didn’t up Ryann 40° and raining in the morning. He advised me to wait for the rain to stop to catch fish. Reluctantly I did so. Rain stopped at two and I met him at the dock. We saw another charter docking that had six people and cat nine fish after eight hours. We got out onto the water first a couple places Mike was teaching me about “tick & lift” and “ The hog hanger hop”. He was also explaining water conditions, wind ways out all factors in. Then he got to the third spot and said this is gonna be a good one. I immediately pulled out the big fish for the day. He pulled up a couple more. He took me to one last spot where we pulled up three more. We put up a total of six fish in four hours, with only 2 of us. Neither one of us snagged “Old Clay Face”, I guess the legend continues. Mike’s a great story teller. Old Clay Face, I love it!

My family and I enjoyed our day out fishing with Mike and George. We each caught fish and were taught new techniques to catch walleye!

    AWESOME TIME

    7 Hour Trip

Captain Mike of Hawg Hanger is one of the best charter captains in the Western Basin! He will always make sure that he puts his clients of fish. He is also a great fisherman him self! Highly recommend.

If there is no one else out fishing, pick a different day

Chose this charter because it was reasonable price for the time on water. Never been before so nothing to compare it to. Waters too rough at 5am and Mike offered to take out group to Put-n- Bay instead which was a hard no. I can take the ferry for a lot less. Mike was pleasant, and recommended that we go later in the day but then proceeded to say that it was the wrong time of day after hours of few to no bites. He did try hard and took us to multiple areas to fish. He does urinate in a jug and pour over side of boat without warning. A bit awkward for the women on board. There is no live well. Instead, our one catch was left to flop and die in the cooler since he said we couldn't kill it. Didn't see any life jackets, nor where any offered. Not that it is a big deal, but it could be a big deal. We did our own fishing without help. Not sure if others offer to help bait your line or anything, perhaps that is a specialty lesson charter. Good thing we have all fished on rivers before. Overall, not a bad experience but it somehow could've been a little better.
