Clinton, CT Fishing Report – Mid-October The fall bite is heating up! Blackfish season is off to a strong start with solid catches coming off the reefs and rock piles. Blues have been running steady—providing plenty of action for anglers looking for that hard fight—and the Black Sea Bass continue to bite well, rounding out some great mixed-bag trips. As an added bonus, a few Bonito have been showing up inshore, making for some exciting light-tackle opportunities. Overall, it’s shaping up to be a classic October in Clinton—great variety and even better fishing!

Clinton, CT Fall Fishing Report As autumn paints the Connecticut shoreline in rich hues of red and gold, Clinton's coastal waters continue to promise excitement for anglers. Here's what’s biting and where to cast your line: Black Sea Bass & Striped Bass As October wrapped up, the frenzy for black sea bass and striped bass began to wane. With cooling water temperatures, these fish have started their migration or moved to deeper waters, making catches less predictable—but not impossible for the determined angler. Tautog (Blackfish) Take the Spotlight Tautog season is in full swing, and the bite has been phenomenal! These hard-fighting bottom dwellers are keeping rods bent and spirits high. Targeting depths of 15–30 feet with green or Asian shore crabs has yielded excellent results, with many anglers landing tautog well above the legal size limit. Hot Spots to Explore Clinton Reef: Perfect for tautog enthusiasts, with rocky bottoms and ledges teeming with life. Six Mile Reef: A well-known structure offering consistent tog action. Harbor Channels: Submerged wrecks and pilings are prime hiding spots for tautog this time of year. Tips for Success Gear Up: Opt for medium-heavy tackle with a sensitive rod tip to feel even the slightest tog bites. Choose the Right Bait: Green crabs work wonders—cut them in half to release their scent and attract fish. Central LI Sound Local Waters Fishing Update When we think about fishing, the image of a boat drifting over our local waters in search of the perfect catch often comes to mind. While the allure of distant fishing trips is undeniable, our local waters are proving to be just as rewarding. Striper Action The Striper action has been nothing short of spectacular this week. We've had over 150 bass brought to the boat, with some weighing over 50 pounds! The abundance and size of these fish have made for an exciting week of fishing. Whether you're targeting big catches or just enjoying the thrill of the hunt, now is an excellent time to get out on the water for Striper. Seabass Success Seabass fishing has also been exceptional. Anglers have consistently caught 4 to 5-pound seabass, filling coolers and making for delicious meals. The Seabass bite is hot, and it's a perfect opportunity for both seasoned and novice fishermen to reel in some impressive catches. Quick Access The best part? These fantastic fishing opportunities are just within 20 minutes of our launch point. You don't have to travel far to experience some of the best fishing our area has to offer. Whether you're looking for a quick trip or a full day on the water, our local fishing grounds are ready to provide. Fishing has been stellar in Long island Sound! We had mutlple trips with customers getting their PB stripers. Seabass keep the lines busy and have been at times over the 20” mark!
