Captain Mark Maloney is a third generation captain. He began his 'charter' service career in 1972 at the age of eight. Back then, his equipment was a 10' aluminum Jon boat, the classic 'Red Flyer Wagon' as the trailer, the famous Zebco 202, and a Maxwell House coffee can filled to the brim with worms. Today, he has more than 25 years of experience fishing in the St. Petersburg area. He says, 'What better way to go to work than by boat?'

    Barracudaville Charters for the win!!

Excursión de Medio Día – En Alta Mar • 3 adultos

Capt. Mark was absolutely awesome, he was very professional full of knowledge and didn’t mind sharing information. Definitely an all around cool guy! He took us off shore about 9-10 miles, the bite started off slow but he had a few tricks up his sleeve and in the end it paid off. While we were fishing we caught cobia, king mackerel, trigger fish, baby grouper, and numerous snapper which made for a delicious dinner! He brought us back to the dock we tied up and he cleaned and filleted our fish bagged it and sent us on our way with meat and ice. Definitely had a great experience he will absolutely be the guy we call when we vacation again!!

    Amazing Captain!

Excursión de 3/4 de Día - En Alta Mar • 3 adultos • 1 niño

capt. Mark was amazing! my youngest got sea sick on way out to catch Barracuda and Mark turned us back around, put us in calmer waters and made a great day for the boys catching skip jack, trout, and others. He even gave my son a shirt for hanging it out and catching fish after having a tough morning being sick. We have already booked for a spring barracuda trip. thanks mark!

    Only my son knows Jack....

Excursión de Medio Día – En Alta Mar - 1:00 PM • 3 adultos

The Captain Mark very conscientious and accommodating we booked an afternoon trip, but he saw less-than-favorable weather on the horizon. So, we started earlier than the official schedule and also adjusted locations for ocean safety. My son caught the first fish, a Jack, after that we caught catfish, trout, and a lady fish. Catching the only Jack, my son now can say "Dad, you don't know Jack".

You cannot go wrong. I’ve been fishing for over 50 years never met a better captain, who knew his business and knows the area better than anyone. Captain was patient with my wife. Patient with my daughter. Patient with me. Simpy amazing. Perfect charter - perfect day.

We had a great time. Captain Mark was great. Ge helped us with any issues that came up like lost hooks or tangled lines. We did a little trolling for Mahi, etc but didnt have much luck. Captain Mark then found some great bottom fishing spots. We caught a lot of Grouper which was nice and lots if snapper. Everyone caught a fish.

Tampa Bay water temps hits 90 degrees In

jun 19, 2025 • San Petersburgo
As the summer heats up the fish seek cooler Waters whether it's deeper offshore waters that can be several degrees cooler or early morning in the bay. The fish are not much different than us they prefer Temps that are comfortable. We can have fish year round but a general statement is you need to find the cooler water temps and moving water to have the best bite! As a general statement deeper is better! If at all possible avoid fishing midday inside Tampa Bay. June's line August early mornings or best or late evenings tides are also a factor of course. Water's past 75 / 80 ft will definitely be cooler than our Nearshore waters that you can reach on a half day... As always the best time to fish is when you can...Talk to your captain and plan your trips accordingly! One Barracudaville advantage is we have T-top AND a Bimini so you'll have three quarters of the boat in shade! Tight lines! Captain Mark Maloney Barracudaville Charters

Deeper is better in the summer months...

may 25, 2024 • San Petersburgo
Many of our Gulf and Bay species are seeking comfortable water temperatures in the heat of the summer. Mid May, June, July, August and even early September in Tampa Bay will hit 90 plus degrees! Not comfortable for us or the fish. Barracudaville Boats provides full cover from our relentless Summer Sun. A Bimini and a t-top to provide extra shade for our clients comfort during those hot summer months. Many of our fish head West to go deeper to find the cooler temps they desire... What that means for us as a general statement is deeper fishing is better here during the summer. There are still fish to be caught in close ( inside 20 miles) we have a few species that like the warmer water barracuda sharks, mangrove snapper will be found closer as well as some Spanish mackerel and Bonita... Warm temps can sometimes mean a lethargic bite... Moving water and a fresh lively bait can do the trick but as a general rule the hotter it gets the deeper waters are more productive. If you're fishing in the bay and early morning bite typically is going to be better than a p.m. bite. Offshore the further out you go the cooler the water temperature the surface temp may still be high greater depths are generally cooler holding some of your larger bottom fish... In the summer fish early or deep and stay cool on BarracudaVille Charters! Captain Mark Maloney Barracudaville Charters

Hot fishing is deep this summer

jun 7, 2023 • San Petersburgo
As the water heats up the fish continue move deeper offshore! In our warmer summer months June, July, August even September the biggest fish and best bite is past 30 mi. Barracuda sharks small grunts can be found inside 20 mi with an occasional permit on some wrecks. As a general unwritten rule for summertime fishing the more productive trips are deep! Get in our bean bag chair and enjoy the comfortable ride into the deep blue offshore! For those interested in red snapper red grouper and some bigger mangoes the only place they're being caught in our gulf waters is in 120 ft plus which is 40 mi. The tarpon bite has been fair to good depending on the tide Best bite has been an late outgoing tide around the full moon but there are some tarpon being hooked along the beaches in the morning as well. Tight lines! Captain Mark Maloney Barracudaville Charters

Red Snapper are Deep!

jul 22, 2020 • San Petersburgo
For the out-of-town fisherman our Red Snapper (ARS) are caught on our deepwater trips the deeper the better... Amberjack, Red Snapper, Tuna and our biggest Grouper are most often found deep especially in the summer months... Tight lines! Capt. Mark Maloney BarracudaVille Charters

Kings are thick off Gulf beaches

oct 26, 2015 • San Petersburgo
East winds have brought kingfish within a few miles of our beaches! Our fall run should last through November. Live bait will get the largest fish locate fish by hitting hard bottom and look for bait schools. Kings will not be far with clean green water and waterr in the 70s !!!
