Cant get away from the fish!

The sailfish bite has been on fire this week off Pompano Beach, with ideal conditions and plenty of life in the water. We’ve been running live goggle-eyes and pilchards on the kites, and the action has been nonstop. The clean blue water, steady north current, and light chop have created perfect kite-fishing conditions, and the sails are responding big time. Most of our strikes have been classic surface explosions—sailfish rising fast, bill slashing, and baits getting launched out of the water. Once hooked, they’ve been putting on incredible aerial shows, tail-walking and greyhounding across the spread. Average size is running 50–70 pounds, with a few bigger fish mixed in. Late morning has been the hot window, especially when the wind holds steady enough to keep the kites flying clean. We’re also seeing free-jumpers and packs of sails cruising just outside the reef line, which is a great sign the bite will continue. If sailfish are on your bucket list, now’s the time to go.
