(3 Hour Trip — Bottom Fishing Shared)

Good trip - affordable (but not cheap) pricing

Enjoyed the trip. Was a little frustrated that people came late therefore delaying our departure. Left sick because they allowed a man from Irwin PA to smoke and others vaped. Was no place to get away from it. First mate was great as was the captain, but with about 28 people fishing, he was spread a bit too thin. Also did not appreciate the 0300 text asking me to complete this survey.

    Family friendly fishing experience

My son and I had a great time on Shashimi II. We both caught fish! The crew were awesome and I would definitely recommend to those wanting to fish for an affordable cost.

Short-Tail Red Snapper (Ehu) fishing is all about tasty, deepwater snapper and steady action. Ehu are beautiful red fish with short tail fins and firm, white meat. Anglers target them for great table fare and a fun, methodical fight from deep water.

Most crews target Ehu by bottom fishing on steep reefs and ledges in very deep water. Deep drop gear is common, using heavy weights to reach the bottom, cut bait or squid, and sometimes electric reels to manage the depth. Vertical jigging can work when fish are active, but bait usually shines.

Expect a focused, hands-on style of fishing with clear bites and a strong, even pull. This trip suits first-timers who want to learn and food lovers who value top-quality fillets. Bring sun protection, non-slip shoes, layers for wind, and motion sickness meds if needed. Ask your captain what tackle, drinks, and cooler space are provided, and what you should bring.

Before you go, check local fishing rules. Confirm license and permit needs, open seasons, and any size or bag limits for Red Snapper species. Some areas also have gear rules or seasonal closures. Regulations change, so review them close to your trip and follow your captain’s guidance.
