The Tarpon fishing continues!

The Marathon fishing report is showing signs of summer. Very few tarpon are still hanging around, but we’re still able to make a trip work if expectations aren’t set sky high. The sharks and barracuda have really been picking up the slack in the big fish department, providing plenty of action and some exciting battles. We’re also catching a nice mix of mangrove snapper, adding some great table fare to the day. If you’re looking to get out on the water, there’s still fish to be caught and memories to be made. Tarpon fishing around the bridges is still giving us opportunities at fish each trip, but it’s definitely not as consistent as it was a few weeks ago. We’ve been dealing with floating grass and scattered fish at times, so patience and putting in the time has been important lately. The next thing we’re looking forward to is the upcoming worm hatch around the bridges. Once it starts happening consistently, it usually helps get the tarpon more active and can improve the overall bite. Hopefully we’ll see things pick up over the next few weeks

Tarpon fishing in Marathon is absolutely on fire right now, especially around the bridges. Big schools are stacked up in the current, and live baits like mullet and crabs are getting smoked as soon as they drift back naturally. We’re seeing multiple shots every tide, with aggressive fish and some true giants in the mix. Early mornings and strong moving water have been best, but the bite’s been solid all day. I was able to take 1st place in the latest “Tarponian” tarpon tournament, and it shows just how dialed this fishery is right now. If you want in on peak tarpon action, now’s the time.
