Big'ol Monster Black Drum and some other

The spring bite is on! We spent the day working the edge of the marsh along the ICW and found a limit of good sized slot redfish along with several reds over 30" and a nice keeper flounder on live finger mullet. After catching our limits of redfish we began working channels with depths between 8-10 feet and found a good mess of undersized flounder by slowly working chartreuse swim baits along the bottom.

The bite was on for black drum. From puppy drum to big ugly's we found them in all shapes and sizes. We found a few reds working the skinny water back in the marsh and I lost a unique piebald redfish that broke me off. We ended up with a cooler full of tasty fish and a good tale of the the one that got away.

West Galveston Bay/Port Bolivar, TX March 10, 2024, was marked by rough weather conditions. The winds were strong, contributing to the overall cold atmosphere of the day. Additionally, the tide was extra low, making for challenging fishing conditions. Despite the tough weather, our fishing expedition turned into an epic adventure. We successfully located schools of redfish in shallow waters with a few black drum in the mix. The water was so shallow that we could see the backs and tails of big redfish working their way towards us. Our team took full advantage, engaging in sight casting which proved to be not only effective but also exhilarating. The redfish were plentiful and their presence in such shallow water was a spectacle to behold. We went home with a stringer full of nice fish and released several oversized reds and undersized black drum.
