Great trip for any family. Andrew was awesome with the kids and made sure they knew what to do and helped them any time they needed. Loaded up on crabs and clams! Must do for any family wanting to get out and try something different.
We had a great day on the water with Captain Andrew. We wanted to do something that would appeal to both 2 adults and kids (12f, 10m, 6m, 4f) and this trip was a hit. We started the day with clamming which none of us had done before, and after a quick lesson we all had a great time finding clams which we could keep, and some scallops and oysters we couldn't keep due to regularions. This was followed by a trip to a few islands: one for shell hunting and another for shark tooth hunting. The kids had plenty of time for this and playing in the water. Captain Andrew even took the time to teach us how to use our cast net which one of the kids wanted to bring along. When we were done hunting for teeth and collecting shells we went back to check the crab pots, seeing dolphins on the way. We hauled.in the crab pots and found an unexpected variety of crabs and fish. There were blue crabs, stone crabs, spider crabs, calico crabs, and hermit crabs in the pot, and we had already seen fiddler.and ghost crabs earlier. We ended up taking home 50 clams and about a dozen crabs and claws. Steamed everything up for dinner. Candidate z Andrew was knowledgeable. Informative, patient, and engaging. Everyone had a great day.
Andrew has a great setup that is comfortable yet built for purpose. Within minutes of launching we were shuffling through the Bogue mud trying to feel out clams with our toes. Ended up doing pretty well I think. A nice boat ride under the E.I. bridge and off to find sharks teeth. Found out stingrays have teeth also! Moved a bit to a nice beach to shell hunt and then off to check crab pots. Listen to the man and don’t have your fingers in the wrong place is all I can say😉 Overall it was a great experience. Our six year old loved it and was absolutely exhausted once we were done. Thank you again to Captain Andrew! You’ve got an amazing thing going that I would recommend to anyone
This is our third trip with Capt Andrew and won’t be our last! If you’re looking for a fun, family day on the water go with First Due Charters! Andrew is born and raised on Emerald Isle and has extensive knowledge that he’ll share with you throughout the day, great time!
We had an absolutely amazing time with Captain Andrew! He made the whole day enjoyable for everyone on the trip, from sassy teenagers to my 45 going on 85 year old sister. We will definitely be returning!
This week my family and I traveled to Indian beach for a week long vacation. While we were here, we decided we wanted to spend some time crabbing but didn’t want the hassle of finding the right spot and buying our own gear. While there are many different options to choose from, there weren’t many that focused on crabbing. After searching around we found Andrew and I’m glad we did. Andrew has lived in the area his whole life and knew the special places to go. We did a lot more than pulling up crab pots on this trip. We started out searching for seashells on an island that was uninhabited and the shells we found were amazing. We then traveled to another spot to search for shark teeth. Andrew knew exactly where to go and we were able to find approximately 40 teeth on this small island. After finishing our search, we traveled to Andrew’s crab pots where we were able to catch some crabs. Finally, we traveled to a place where we were able to find clams to bring home. This trip was so much more than what I expected. Andrew was awesome with my children and we had a great time. I would recommend First Due Charters if you are looking to book a trip that is far different than your ordinary fishing trip.
What an unbelievable day! This is an adventure we will all remember. We started our adventure off clamming. We have never done this before and we had a ball! We next went on a nice boat ride to an island for shelling. From there we went to another spot for shark teeth and then to a sand bar to search for sand dollars. Our girls requested to go clamming at the very end so we made one last stop to grab some more! (We ended up with 101 clams, 34 shark teeth and a bag full of big beautiful shells!) The trip itself is so perfect for families. Our girls are 6 and 3. It kept them entertained with the different activities. We were able to explore the true gifts of Emerald Island. The boat rides were a great break in between to catch a breeze and grab a quick snack. I would highly suggest this for families looking for an adventure! Captain Andrew is wonderful! He is very easy going and has so much knowledge of the area. He definitely made the trip fun and wanted to make sure we had the trip we were hoping for! He is great with kids and wanting to teach about the things he learned growing up on the beautiful Crystal Coast. I would highly recommend this trip!
First, I appreciated Andrew for communicating before our trip to ensure we picked the best day and had the right expectations. He was a great captain and tour guide! Very knowledgeable and took time to explain things and help us have the best experience possible. We didn’t catch the amount of fish that we wanted, but I don’t think he could control that. Overall, we had a great time and created some lasting memories! We experienced several “first time” experiences as a family. Oh, and the weather was absolutely amazing!! Thanks Andrew! We will see you again. The Whitakers
This was one of the best charters we’ve taken. Capt Andrew was awesome with my 9yr old who has a short attention span. He catered to making sure he had a great time. We fished, checked crab pots and learned the local way of digging for clams. We ate lunch on a remote island and found some cool old whale bones. My son had the best of times on this trip. His grandparents enjoyed the clams that we dug. Capt Andrew made all this possible. This trip was one my son will never forget. If you’re looking for a great way to make some awesome memories with your kids, take this trip. Thanks again Capt Andrew.
Had an awesome time with Captain Andrew. Highly recommend. Went home with cool box full of seafood. Amazing ...

So glad you guys had a good time!
This trip was perfect our family (3 kids ages 8, 6, and 4). Andrew is super down to earth and great with the kids. We found lots of clams and crabs. The kids will be talking about this trip for months. I cannot recommend it enough!

Im so glad you guys had a good time!
Captain Andrew was great. Prompt, courteous, safe and importantly a comfortable captain who knows how to manage a boat to minimize wake and wave influence for guests. We raked for clams (lots and big), picked shells off of Bear Island, combed a shoal for sharks teeth, pulled crab pots where we saw stone, spider and blue crabs, and finished with pulling tumbled stones from the dredging of the intracoastal waterway. Lots to do in five hours. Don't forget to brings snacks and drinks and reapply your sunscreen!

I’m glad you guys had a good time! Thanks again for coming!
