    Fishing with Jeff

Capt.Jeff was great. Explained everything as we went along. Took us were the fish where and we caught them . I would recommend him to anyone. We will be booking many more trips with him in tue future. If we didn’t catch any fish I would book with him again. He made the whole experience great and treated us like family / freinds. Great job. Great trip and Captain

The captain took the time to ask about what we wanted to target and if we want sport or game fish. he put us on fish at multiple spots. I would charter the Fintimidator again. An unexpected bonus was the continual flyovers from the local airbase.

(6 Hour Trip (AM) - Bottom Fishing)

    Great trip

My son and I had an excellent trip with Tim and John. Great guys to spend the day fishing with. Very knowledgeable and shared subtle tips to improve our technique. We targeted Sea Bass and Tog. They kept us on fish the entire day. Very nice and comfortable boat. Would definitely use them again for future trips.

Tautog fishing is all about tough fish and tight structure. Tautog, also called Blackfish, live around rocks, wrecks, and pilings. They bite baits with quick taps, then dig hard for cover. Anglers love them for the challenge and their firm, tasty fillets.

The go-to approach is bottom fishing, which means dropping baits to the seafloor. Green Crab, Asian Shore Crab, clam, and mussel are classic baits. Use sturdy tackle, sensitive rods, and abrasion-resistant leaders. Many anglers also jig near structure with compact, bottom-weighted jigs. Wait a moment after the first pecks, then lift into a steady hookset.

Expect a hands-on, feel-the-bite game. The action is close to the bottom and often around shallow, protected inshore spots, with deeper holds in colder months. Fights are strong and stubborn. This suits anglers who enjoy fine touch and quick reactions. It is beginner friendly with a patient captain or guide. Bring layers, non-slip shoes, gloves for handling crabs, and sunscreen. A small cooler with ice is useful if keeping fish where allowed.

Regulations for Tautog change by area and season. Before your trip, check local rules for licenses or permits, open seasons, and harvest limits. Your captain may provide guidance, but each angler is responsible for following current laws.
