Meet your Captain Tom Ard, a true Orange Beach native and a 5 boat owner at Zekes landing Marina, with over 40 years of offshore fishing experience.
The love for fishing started at a very young age for Tom, fishing farm ponds and rivers around his house for bass and bream, or catching speckled trout and red fish off the family dock on Wolf Bay. This all transitioned to offshore fishing when his father, Captain Gloyice Ard had a custom built charter boat, a Buskins, completed 1980, the 'Bollweevil' which is still in service here at Zekes.
Tom grew up deck handing on the Bollweevil and ran his first real charter at 18 years old. He inherited the vessel after his dad passed away.
After graduating from UWF with a degree in criminal justice, Tom married his love of his life Kim, in 1997. They purchased the Fairwater II in 1998. Since then he's charter fished, raised a family ( son Garrett is working on his Masters degree at Mississippi State) and cared for the boat, trying to make her a better boat each and every year. Along the way they purchased the Water Dog, a 34 ft crusader, continued fishing on the Bollweevil. In 2019 he and business partner Captain Brett Russell added the SouthWind and the TradeWinds in 2022. Captain Brett started his fishing career at just 16 years old working with us during the summer.
Training young men into captains has been one of Tom's strengths, along with having a fishing team that feels like a family. We all work together and help each other with the boats and in fishing which gives the whole fleet an advantage.
One of Tom's passions has been finding older boats and making them look new again with a strong knowledge about engines, generators, and very importantly electronics that keep you safe and help catch fish. This has been his hobby inside his fishing career.
In his 50s now, Tom still has a passion for hunting,and fishing, going on adventures with his family (which includes his two Labrador retrievers) and boats. Tom also runs a 64 ft Viking sports fisher for his lifelong friend, fishing marlin tournaments, traveling on vacations just to hunt and fish, and still loves a good boat ride on an impressive craft.
And lastly he really loves to watch the joy and excitement catching fish brings to his clients and friends who still come back to fish year after year.

Uscita di pesca di 6 ore (Pomeriggio) • 10 adulti • 2 bambiniEravamo in 10 nel nostro gruppo, dai 9 ai 71 anni, e nessuno di noi aveva mai fatto un'uscita di pesca d'altura. Brad è stato fantastico nell'aiutarci tutti a mettere le lenze in acqua senza aggrovigliarle. Correva da un lato all'altro della barca! Era davvero bravo e paziente con noi principianti. Il Capitano Tom sapeva dove si trovavano i pesci. Ogni volta che calavamo la lenza in acqua, li agganciavamo. Abbiamo pescato più di 60 pesci. È stata un'uscita di pesca fantastica e un'esperienza meravigliosa. Vale ogni centesimo. Il mio nipotino di 9 anni mi ha detto che è stato il giorno più bello della sua vita! Grazie Capitano Tom e Brad! Prenotate con loro, non rimarrete delusi.

My kids had never been on a boat before and these two gentlemen made it a fun learning opportunity. They instantly made us all feel welcome, and like we were on a boat with family. I really appreciate the extra care that was taken to ensure my kids felt safe and they both gave them the boost they needed to get out there and try something new. The kids had huge smiles on their faces and have not stopped talking about all the things they learned and loved about this fishing trip. Ty worked his tail off,and Captain kept it steady at the wheel. They knew were to go to have the best chance of catching some fish. We caught plenty of fish on our three hour tour. If you are looking for a boat that is well maintained, driven and worked by capable and kind individuals, The Boll weevil is it. Thank you to Ty and Shawn for creating a love for fishing and boating for my family. You want these guys to take you and your family fishing, trust me.

Uscita di pesca di 5 ore • 8 adulti • 4 bambiniCi siamo divertiti tantissimo con l'equipaggio a bordo del Southwind! Il Cap. Brett ci ha portato sui pesci fin dal primo spot per tutta la mattina. Nel nostro gruppo c'erano quattro bambini e i marinai Harrison e Marshall hanno fatto un lavoro straordinario assistendoli, aiutandoli a portare a bordo i loro pesci, a rimettere l'esca e a tornare subito in azione. Abbiamo pescato un sacco di pesce, non tutti da tenere, ma bisogna sempre lasciarne un po' per la prossima volta. Quelli che abbiamo tenuto erano pesci fantastici, tra cui un enorme red snapper da 33,5" per uno dei nostri ragazzi più grandi. Uno degli altri ragazzi ha preso un altro snapper davvero bello e alla fine abbiamo avuto un pescato misto che includeva red snapper, Spanish mackerel, Albacore Jack e una sorpresa inaspettata, la Lampuga (Mahi Mahi)! Raccomanderei al 1.000% una giornata in acqua con il Cap. Brett, Harrison e Marshall. Il Southwind ci ha regalato ricordi che le nostre famiglie custodiranno per anni, e quel red snapper da 33,5" troverà il suo posto sulla parete della stanza di mio figlio maggiore tra qualche mese. Uscita di pesca di 6 ore (Mattina) • 11 adulti • 4 bambiniSiamo appena tornati da un'uscita di pesca di 6 ore in famiglia sulla barca del Capitano Tom, la Fairweather II. Eravamo 7 adulti e 3 bambini. La barca ha molto spazio e un ottimo ponte panoramico. Avremmo potuto portare altri adulti e bambini se avessimo voluto. Abbiamo raggiunto facilmente il nostro limite e catturato anche diversi pesci trofeo! Tom ha trovato i pesci e Brad si è assicurato che li portassimo a bordo. Il marinaio di coperta, Brad, è stato fantastico con la nostra famiglia e con i bambini, davvero un gran bel tipo. Il nostro pescato era di gran lunga migliore rispetto agli altri al molo. Prenoteremo di nuovo questa uscita. Senza dubbio. Grazie per la bellissima giornata!

Uscita di 5 ore • 9 adulti • 2 bambiniEravamo un gruppo numeroso di 10 persone (7 bambini e 3 adulti) e per la maggior parte dei bambini era la prima volta. Abbiamo scelto l'uscita da 5 ore, che si è rivelata la durata perfetta per i più piccoli. La barca era di buone dimensioni e lo spazio interno era comodo per far sedere i bambini durante gli spostamenti tra un posto e l'altro. Il Capt. Tristen e il secondo Ben hanno fatto un lavoro fantastico nel portare il gruppo sui pesci e nel tenerci lì. Ben è stato straordinario, molto paziente e di grande aiuto con i bambini. Consiglio questa uscita di pesca a qualsiasi famiglia che voglia trascorrere del tempo in mare nell'area di Orange Beach.
