Captain James Brayton has been on the water since the age of 3, growing up fishing alongside his father on drift boats. What started as a childhood passion quickly turned into a lifelong career. By age 12, he was already at the helm of a 65' sportfishing boat under the guidance of an experienced captain — the moment he knew this was the path he wanted to follow.
He began working his way up from helping out as a second mate to mastering every aspect of the boat — from bottom fishing and live baiting to engine room operations. By 16, he was fully immersed in the charter world, learning advanced techniques like kite fishing, shark fishing, and wreck fishing. At just 21 years old, he earned his captain's license and turned his dream into reality.
With over two decades of professional experience (since 2000), Capt. James has fished extensively along both the East and West coasts of Florida — from Port St. Lucie to Key West, up to Clearwater — as well as the Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), the Dry Tortugas, and Pulley Ridge.
He specializes in targeting Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Snapper, and Grouper, and brings a deep understanding of offshore and reef fisheries to every trip. Whether you're a seasoned angler or new to the sport, Capt. James is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and delivering an unforgettable day on the water.

He called the night before to ask what we wanted to target, gave us info on the day and asked if we had any questions. Day of, he met us on time with his 1st mate John. We had a quick safety overview and were off. 15 minutes and we were on the ocean with lines going out. Before all the lines were set we had 2 fish on! We trolled for about 2 hrs with less than a few minutes between fish. We caught 6 large Bonita and 4 nice Black fin Tuna. As we were going to switch to bottom fishing for snapper, we spotted a shark about 50 yards off the boat. Without missing a beat, capt Jimmy jumped down and setup a shark rig while mate John reeled in our trolling lines. 5 minutes later, we were hooked up on a 8+ ft hammerhead! After a 30 min fight, we had it boat side. Got some great pics and we released it. A few bottom drops wrapped up our trip with 2 snapper! We headed back in where the tuna and snapper were filleted up for us and they pointed us to a nearby restaurant that we went to and had our catch cooked up for a great meal! If you want a great trip with a capt and crew that know what they are doing, look no further! 10 out of 10 we will be back again!

We initially attempted to head out into the ocean, but due to the conditions, we had to turn around. The captain and deckhand were incredibly accommodating and quickly adjusted our trip, setting us up in the canal where the waters were much calmer—perfect for our family. We were especially grateful for how kind and attentive they were with our two daughters. They truly made the best out of unpredictable Florida weather and ensured we still had an enjoyable and memorable experience. I would absolutely recommend this charter to anyone looking for a family-friendly fishing trip. Their flexibility, professionalism, and positive attitude made all the difference!

Uscita di 5 ore • 2 adulti • 1 bambinoMorning started out great Captain James accommodated my son and I by meeting us an hr early. Then he gave us the option to buy live bait or use spinners. We took him up on the live bait, money well spent. Then his mate went over safety of the boat. She was very helpful, friendly and drives the boat very well. We had very good luck my son caught a kingfish biggest fish he has ever caught due to captains experience and ability to know the area. After he pulled that it in I was lucky enough to pull in a 51” Barracuda which was the biggest fish I have ever caught. This was the best charter my son and I have ever been on. Nothing is guaranteed but we were blessed that day. Captain gave us the option to go for smaller fish and catch more but my son wanted to risk and try for another big one. We overall have had a great time and will deff be looking to rebook with Captain James when back in the area. TY Captain and First Mate. Highly recommend!!!

Even though we had no wind to fly the kites to catch the sailfish that you wanted. 4 Hour Trip (PM) • 3 adultiHad a great experience with capt.Jimmy and mate Christine. Fishing started off slow, which we were trolling at first. When we haven’t got any bites in the first hour or so Capt.Jimmy told Christine let’s use the live bait that they had left over the trip before. After dropping on 3 shipwrecks. All we manage was to have something cut one of our bait off. So we went back on the troll for the rest of the trip. We end up catching 8 black fin tunas. I could tell that when we weren’t catching anything it was frustrating to them for not catching anything. Which I get it from Fishing in the past. That’s why they call it fishing and not catching.

We caught a trophy Wahoo, a Kingfish, a Mahi Mahi and 6 Blackfin Tuna! Excellent solid Hatteras sportfishing boat and top of the line fishing equipment with kite fishing. Cant wait to fish again with these guys. The Wahoo sushi and seared tuna was delicious. Thanks Capt James and Kevin.

Con l'arrivo dell'autunno, i venti tendono ad aumentare. Questo porta i pelagici più vicino alla costa, con la pesca alla Lampuga (Mahi Mahi) e al Pesce vela che risulta molto buona, e una grande varietà di pelagici che abboccano sulle barriere coralline.

December has been a real good month for us with sailfish on the live bait using kites or slow trolling them around. There also has been some wahoo and mahi-mahi in the mix.

December Fishing has been good for us so far. Sailfish are finally showing up. Then the mix there has been Kingfish, some mahi-mahi still around and blackfin Tuna’s later in the afternoon. The wahoo bite has been good around the full moons. It’s looking good for December’s fishing. Hope to see you guys out there with us.

November Fishing has been great so far with the start of our sailfish season, we’ve been catching them on kite fishing, which we don’t provide the live bait for that it’s an extra cost to the trip. We also been catching a few of them on the troll with Kingfish, mahi-mahi, and wahoo’s around the full moons.

The last few weeks we’ve been seeing numbers of mahi-mahi close to shore, which means we don’t have to travel as far offshore to target these fish. In the mix of it, we’ve been catching King mackerel and Sea mackerel with these fish.

So far beginning of August has been good for us, we’ve been catching kingfish, black fin tuna, Bonita, mahi-mahi, and in the last week some Wahoos and getting better closer to the full moon for them.

End of July we’ve been catching a lot of Bonitas and in the mix has been kingfish, and the black fin Tuna are starting to show back up for are fall months.
