I've been fishing since I could walk. I got into fishing Lake Superior fishing 20 years ago shore casting, then small boat trolling, then ice fishing, and finally into the bigger boat. I'm a total fishing addict.

    Great guy, great time!

    We had an absolute blast with James. Authentic, fun captain to spend time with. Super knowledgeable about the lake and the fisheries. Learned a ton, caught six bike lake trout without driving a ton. Beautiful day on the water, core memory for my 9 year old son. Cannot recommend highly enough!

    James is an awesome guide and captain! The Knife River Marina is easy to negotiate and close to beuatiful shoreline. We had a wonderful family day!

    Wonderful day on the lake. Lots of Lake Trout and a Coho. Captain James made the trip fun, informative and successful.

A true giant today

lug 15, 2026 • Knife River
Fishing was slow for a few days as the water temps rose, then fell. 2 days of stability and the bite was on today. Good mix of lake trout, king and coho salmon, and even a walleye. This monster measured 37"x 23.5" esitmated 25#!

Late Summer Bite Just Heated Up

Water temps around Duluth have warmed up, and with recent winds the fish have all stacked up near town. Mostly trout, but a few salmon have been in the mix. Walleye should be showing up ny day now.
