Jon was a great captain. very knformation, bantered well with both myself and my daughter, and was pleasant. When we did get in the fish, he was helpful and instructive. We managed to catch a 36 inch and citation worthy 50 inch Red Drums, and Jon followed up with how to record that catch. He also participates in the tagging program for Virginia fisheries, which i thinknis admirable. Inwould absolutely book again

Captain Jon was great. I caught 7 red drum (landed 6). Smallest was 33”, 4 between 35-37” and one citation 47”. Other highlight was a very large pod of dolphins and a great sunset. I highly Salty Hooker for a fantastic fishing trip.

We had been looking forward to a fishing trip on the bay for some time to just get on the water but to also create a memorable experience for my 6 year old granddaughter. We read good reviews for this charter so we booked a morning half day trip. The boat was comfortable, easy to access...on the docks right next to the Shanty Restaurant. It had a toilet which came in handy for the little one. The boat was clean, well maintained, and equipped. They had life preservers for children under 12 which they must wear (it's the law). And we were glad we didn't need to buy one ahead of time. Captain John and his son Johnny took us out into the harbor to get everyone acclimated, residual the youngster. We caught a handful of finger sized fish...a few different species as we drifted. We then attempted to travel to to Kiptoke for more serious fishing but the northeasterly breezes made for a serious chop that scared my granddaughter. So the captain turned around and we returned to the calm waters of the harbor for the rest of the trip. He was very accommodating and took his cues from us as to what we were comfortable with. We saw a few dolphins too which was bonus. I checked with my daughter after the trip for her review and she said that they all had a good time and liked that the captain and first mate were so helpful and understanding of how to make the trip a wonderful trip for the young one. John found a great spot on the reef and drum hot right away! My son and nephew caught some nice flatties and refs! I reeled in a citation red! Go have fun and book with captain John!

Captain John was amazing. My twin boys caught a lot of fish and had a great time. Very family friendly environment. Thank you Captain John.

They did an amazing job. Even after we were out for an hour we had to come back in and sit due to a storm. Instead of just canceling they waited it out and we got to finish our trip. They made sure we caught the fish we were after. They worked hard and even let one of our members cast with different baits. If I’m in the area again, I would definitely use them!! Very friendly, hard working, and extremely pleasant people to work with.

Captain Jon was great with the kids and put us on the fish.

We went to several locations and the fish were not biting. The Captain stayed past the time to try to ensure we got fish. But the day was beautiful. We slipped on about 3/4 fish that we could not get on the boat by simple mistakes. However we caught a shark.

My family and I caught several species of fish today and it was a blast. Jon is a great captain that we hope the next time we are in Cape Charles, we can go out with him again.
