Cancun Light Tackle & Fly Fishing Tours 

I had an outstanding experience fishing with Mauricio over two consecutive days. On the first day, I spent the entire time fly fishing solo, and he consistently put me on fish from start to finish. I even landed a large jack, which was on my bucket list. The second day, I brought a friend along and we switched it up to bait casting with live bait. Once again, Mauricio delivered an incredible day, and I was able to land a tripletail. The conditions were definitely technical in the mangroves, but his knowledge, instincts, and ability to adapt made all the difference. He kept us on fish all day and made the entire experience both productive and enjoyable. If you’re looking for a guide who truly knows what he's doing and works hard to make sure you succeed, I can’t recommend Mauricio enough.

My daughter and myself had a great 3/4 day on the water. I didn’t boat many fish but not by any fault of the guide. I chose to focus on tarpon and wow they are harder to land than I ever expected but what a battle. (Also note I blew my shoulder out a week before our trip and still chose to fly fish). Soooooo many hook ups and great fights but my own human error hampered my overall success. We had chances at tarpon, snook and trevalle in our six hours. I 100% recommend the experience to other anglers. I’d also like to mention the boating experience through the channels in the mangroves, truly video worthy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for My Cancun Lagoon Trip I booked a 6-hour light-tackle trip in the Cancun lagoon and had an awesome time. We started with artificials and switched to live bait as the sun came up. I ended the day with around 10 barracuda, a few snapper and jacks, and a solid snook. I normally fish freshwater for bass and brackish water for trout and redfish, but the style here is different. If you go, trust your guide’s advice—they know the lagoon, the fish, and the techniques. Once I adjusted how I worked the bait, the bites came fast. Great guides, professional service, and a real fishing experience—not a tourist trap. Highly recommend this trip to anyone… and don’t forget to tip your guide. They earn it.

My wife and I had a great time with our guide Mauricio! It was a windy and on and off overcast morning making it a bit tough especially early in the morning, but Mauricio managed to get us into some fish pretty soon despite the less than ideal conditions. We were able to bring a few decent Jack Cravalle to the boat and one Tarpon that gave me an absolute run for my money! Overall a great morning with a great guide who treated us well. Thank you Mauricio and thank you Martin! (p.s. I’m sorry again that I spilled your coffee when i shook your hand when we met!)

Fishing in less-than-ideal conditions, we battled strong winds and dirty water in the wake of a cold front. We had a few opportunities at tarpon, but unfortunately missed them due to operator error. My son is 14, and it’s easy to forget that kids aren’t always familiar with the old-school clock-face system for casting direction. Fortunately, our guide consistently positioned us in the right spots to target snook tight in the mangroves and Barracuda cruising the channels . The boat, guide, and gear were all top-notch. I would absolutely take this trip again.

From setting up the appointment to landing back at the dock, it was a fantastic experience. Booked the 6 hour, but after 4 hours, i had caught what inwas looking for. Barracuda, Snook, and Jacks. Noel knew exactly where to find the fish, gave me the location, and we were able to get them in. Headed out on the boat at sunrise and quickly arrived at our fishing location to target tarpon on the fly rod. Managed to hook up to a nice fish but unfortunately got off just as well were about to lip it out. I did manage to catch a nice snook which fought hard! For the last couple of hours we fished on light rods with live sardines around the mangroves. My daughter (12)managed to catch several nice snapper and small barracuda so finished the trip on a nice high.

Went late June and caught a tarpon our last cast. Captain was awesome and could spot them easily just looking at the waves. My son is an avid fisherman and know his stuff, but still couldnt see them like he could. Strongly reccomend taking the 6 hour trip as give you more time to search for live bait.

Got to head out with Mauricio, I always have some doubts going on charters as the services usually aint like the description/reviews but not this one! Mauricio would be pointing out where he saw the fish while I see absolutely nothing and theyd be there. There was a good few of topwater hit and misses on my trip which is the nature of fishing but the overall experience was great fun! would recommend to any fish enthusiasts as the guide have good respect to the fish also.

Martin and Noel were amazing. No complaints at all. We caught lots of fish and even got to try fly fishing. Noel was an awesome guide. Very friendly and made the day on the water fun. I don't do well deep sea fishing due to motion sickness and this was perfect. The sandwiches were also very delicious and had drinks on board. We had the best day, thank you!
