    (Half Day Trip – Calmwater)

    Doesn’t disappoint

Great trip, spent the morning out on the water with Vincent who was knowledgeable & had heaps of good yarns. Took my 11 year old son, he loved it & is now keen to go again.

    (6 Hour Trip – Inshore)

A memorable birthday experience for my grandson

Captain Ben knew all the perfect spots to take us for a great day’s fishing, supplied and fixed the baits to use and provided the gear to land the haul. Heaps of experience and informative local fishing knowledge too.

Leatherjacket fishing is all about steady action on light gear. Leatherjackets, also known as Filefish, are small, colorful fish with sharp teeth and big personalities. Anglers target them for quick bites, simple tactics, and great table fare.

You will most often find them while inshore fishing around estuaries, harbors, pylons, and sheltered reefs. Use ultra-light spinning tackle, small long-shank hooks, and tiny baits like prawn, squid, or cut fish. A small sinker or a float keeps the bait in the strike zone, and a slow lift-and-drop helps trigger bites.

Expect lots of pecks and short strikes, which makes this fun and hands-on. This is a great option for beginners, kids, and anyone who enjoys constant bites. Bring spare hooks and leaders, as Leatherjackets can nip through gear. A dehooker or wet towel helps with safe handling, and watch your fingers near their teeth.

Rules for Leatherjacket fishing vary by location. Always check local fishing license and permit needs, and confirm seasons and harvest rules before your trip.
