Captain Charlie Rogers has been knee-deep into fishing ever since he could hold a rod on his own. He's a South Florida native and has fished from the Florida Keys to Miami, Bahamas, and Louisiana. He worked on several boats in the early stages of his career until he decided to go at it on his own, and hasn't looked back since.

    Captain Rodgers was extremely friendly, understanding, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. He helped make a last-second trip become reality, and it was some of the best fishing I’ve done. I honestly couldn’t thank him enough for his accommodations. I compared a lot of different choices for charters, and overall, Against the Grain seemed like the best one. After actually going, it did not disappoint one bit. I’d recommend Captain Rodgers and Against the Grain to anyone looking to go on a charter, he’s the best there is

    Great Day of Fishing the Keys

    On vacation with the family and my daughter was interested in going fishing witb me. We booked with Against the Grain and Capt Charlie and had a great day out on the water. Caught a bunch of fish and made some memories. Capt Charlie is very knowledgeable and great to talk to. would recommend to anyone looking for a great day on the water.

    Mahi Mayhem

    We first tried to get some mutton snappe bu they werent biting. we then headed out to find some Mahi. we came up ona few patches of sawgrass but we didnt have any luck. Finally we found some birds and the fight was on. we wound up with over 20 Mahi. Dinner for a few nights. Capt was great and put us where we needed to be.

    A plus Captain. Weather was not the best but that did not stop Captain Charlie from putting us on the fish. We have been fishing around the country. I thought I understood fishing but I was wrong. Charley showed us some tricks that made the fish want to be caught. Great trip.

    Fishing with captain charlie was one of the best charters I’ve been on. We caught the biggest fish of the day within the first hour on the water followed by another right after. And if you think it stopped there your surely mistaken. Captain Charlie made sure we kept moving spots to ensure a bite would come. Me and my family had a great time and we highly recommend booking with him!

    Highly recommend Captain Charlie, he is a hard worker and was communicative and on time. We caught fish and we had a great time! His boat was clean and fueled and iced up at the dock before we arrived. We would definitely book again with Against the Grain.

    Had an awesome experience with my grandfather. The captain knew a lot of different techniques and helped us catch a lot of mahis and other fish would definitely book again!

    I have been fishing the upper Florida keys with my family for years and Captain Charlie was fantastic. He is a fourth generation key largo resident and knows these waters inside and out. Very friendly, excellent with the kids, clean boat, and captain Charlie taught us all better fishing techniques. Will recommend without reservation. Looking forward to fishing with Against The Grain charters again.

    Great time & captain! He put us right on the fish & we did well enough to attract the predators of the sea! We had fun getting our fish past the bull sharks & barracuda that came for our fish! Very knowledgeable & patient he helped us get these beauties to the boat & we were up for the challenge! Excellent & would recommend & would love to go again! Weather was perfect!

    Charlie clearly genuinely loves fishing. Our group caught several snapper and Mahi using totally different techniques of fishing. Boat was well equipped and clean. I would hire him again if we came down to Key Largo.

As the first cold fronts approach are beautiful Florida keys that means the sailfish are coming with them. These acrobatic, hard fighting fish are trophies ?. They will test your skills and give you the thrill of a lifetime. Kite fishing for them is the method of choice along with slow trolling live baits and pitching baits to showering fish. Windy days and shallow water muttons

When the wind is blowing and you can’t get way offshore there should always be a plan B, espically during the months of January through March. This is the time of the year we’re you can have great action on the shallow patch reefs. I like to have plenty of fresh or live bait and anchor up and work an area to target big mutton snappers that cruise around shallow reefs any where from 10 to 40 foot of water . This is a great trip for all types of anglers and can be done in a 4 hour to 8 hour reef trip .
