Jose has over 15 years of experience fishing the local waters. Two years ago he decided to turn his hobby into a profession and start guiding trips and showing guests how beautiful and rewarding of an experience the local fishing grounds can provide. Jose speaks very basic English, but when he has English-speaking customers he hires a guide that speaks English fluently. The favorite part of his job is seeing customers get the fish they've been targeting for a long time.

A phenomenal day on the water!

Don’t let the small boat fool you. Captain Jose and Pez Koi landed BIG fish. I had requested we target Yellowfin Tuna and Captain Jose embraced my request and said ‘Let’s go get you some Yellowfin Tuna’. Sure enough Jose found a 1/4 mile wide bait ball and an ongoing feeding frenzy. Hundreds of Spinner Dolphins, diving birds and lots of Yellowfin Tuna made for a chaotic scene. All we had to do was put out a live Blue Runner and wait for a Tuna to hit it like a freight train! In short order we landed four beautiful Yellowfin, ranging from 45-70 lbs each. My arms were limp noodles by the end of the day! Not having a fighting chair on Pez Koi made it even more challenging. I was solo on this trip and needed a break between fish so Jose prepared some fresh Tuna Ceviche while I was recovering. What a fabulous day!

we had a great time with captain Jose. great snacks, drinks, and communication. he even jumped in to help us fight a 100 lb tuna!

Jose and his mate worked there tale off to find the fish and they did. Would definitely book them again and recommend anyone coming to Puerto Jimenez to book this duo.
