I started out fishing with my Grandpa when I was 5 yrs old. I guess you can say I got 'hooked'. I was fortunate to grow up on a lake and loved to be on the water. My Dad used to say he never worried about me getting in trouble, he knew if he drove around the neighborhood he'd spot me on the lake somewhere. The only trouble I got into was being late to the dinner table. My love for trout fishing began in high school when I started fishing the MO trout opener at Montauk state park with my high school buddies. I moved to Springfield, MO in the early 90's to go to Southwest Missouri State and began working at Bass Pro Shops in the White River Fly Shop. It was at this point that I really developed as a fly fisherman. I fell in love with the Ozark waterways and all that they had to offer. I have been fly fishing the Ozarks and White River Basin for over 30 years now and love sharing my tips, tricks, and tactics with my clients!

    Amazing Guide!

    Had an incredible day on the water with Darren. From start to finish, he worked hard to keep us on fish, and we ended up catching multiple species on the fly. His knowledge of the water, the fish, and fly fishing in general is second to none. What really stood out was how much effort he put into making sure we had a great experience. Great guide, great guy, and an all-around awesome day on the water. We’ll absolutely be fishing with Darren again. Couldn’t recommend him enough.

    Thank you Tyler. I appreciate you alls patience on a challenging day. We clearly had to work for them this particular morning. You buckled down with due diligence and focus and together we all made it happen. Congratulations on your first trout on the fly and for those couple “rodeo” as well.     Darren is absolute top tier. Whether you are an experienced angler looking to dial in subtle technical adjustments or a beginner just trying to get a feel for reading the water and casting, he delivers. He knows the water like the back of his hand. If you are thinking about booking a day with Darren, don't hesitate. You'll catch fish, sharpen your skills, and walk away with an incredible day on the water. Couldn't recommend him more! 10 stars!!!

    what an amazing experience. I came to learn or discover the technique of flyfishing and I conquered that. I also was able to land a fish. Well, we will say two considering the eight second rodeo rule Our guide was amazing. I definitely recommend this trip. It is a must. I come from the sports Fishing capital of the world, Islamorad, Florida. This is an adventure I would recommend to all..

    Our trout fishing trip with Darren was everything we wanted! Fly fishing and rainbow trout was the goal and was a complete success! Darren is extremely personable, encouraging, and knowledgeable and got us on fish within 10 minutes of getting on the water! 10/10 experience, 10/10 recommend, 10/10 would book again!

    I would highly recommend Mozark for a great day of trout fishing. Caught a lot of fish and Captain Darren is super knowledgeable on the fishery and is a great teacher.

    Another great morning flyfishing the morning midge hatches. Small flies, skinny water and big fish. The midge hatches have been profilic most mornings, the fish are loving it. Makes for some great flyfishing for amateur or seasoned anglers.

    Darren is patient and an awesome instructor. Best attitude all day. Caught some fish and became a much more informed wet fly enthusiast. We will be using Mr Sadler from now on when fishing the Ozarks. When the local fly shop carries your flies and recommends them over their own you found the right guide.

    Captain Darren was a great guide! Took two guys who never trout fished, got us on fish, and showed us a good time. Taught us tons about trout including how trout were introduced to the area. Highly recommend his trips!
