Cabo Fishing Report Features a Marlin Release
This was a full-day fishing charter rather than a short morning trip.
With ten anglers aboard the 60' Bertram, the group had eight hours available to search Cabo's warm August water. No dredge was used on this charter, giving the crew a different trolling setup from trips where a large subsurface teaser presentation is incorporated.
The day's defining encounter came from the marlin.
A marlin hookup is a group experience even when only one angler holds the rod. Brad and the rest of the group could watch the fish use its speed and power while the crew managed the boat and tackle through the fight.
Once the marlin reached the boat, it was successfully released.
Cabo Charter Fish Action Includes Two Dorado
Two dorado added another dimension to the eight-hour trip.
Dorado are closely associated with Cabo's summer fishing season. Warm water, concentrations of bait, current edges and floating structure can all contribute to finding these highly mobile fish.
Their fighting style is very different from a marlin. Dorado can make quick surface runs, change direction rapidly and jump repeatedly, while their bright green, yellow and blue coloration makes them instantly recognizable.
For Brad, Joshua, Aaron, Wil, Alex, Lyle, Taylor, Ryan, Ian and Colton, the catch was about species quality rather than high volume.
The group experienced both a Cabo billfish encounter and dorado action during the same full-day charter.
Lunch was included for all ten guests, allowing everyone to stay comfortable through the complete eight-hour fishing window.
By the scheduled 2:15 PM return, Blue Sea had produced two of the species most strongly associated with Cabo's warm-water offshore fishery and returned the marlin safely to the ocean.
