Als je van plan bent om te gaan vissen in San Diego, hoef je niet verder te zoeken dan Fin Runner Sportfishing Charters. Schipper Brian Morris brengt tientallen jaren wereldwijde viservaring met zich mee, opgegroeid in de sportvisserij- en bootbouwgemeenschap van de Outer Banks van North Carolina. Door de jaren heen heeft hij over de hele wereld gevist, waaronder de oostkust van de VS, Alaska, Micronesië, Panama, Baja Mexico, Hawaï en Zuid-Californië. Zijn passie voor het leren van nieuwe visgebieden en technieken heeft hem tot een zeer veelzijdige schipper gemaakt. Hij is in het bezit van een 100-ton USCG kapiteinsvergunning.

Je trip vindt plaats aan boord van een op maat gebouwde 29 ft May-Craft center console, aangedreven door twee 2025 Yamaha 150HP viertaktmotoren. Speciaal ontworpen voor het vissen, biedt het vaartuig een ruime indeling waardoor je vrij rond de boot kunt bewegen tijdens het drillen van vis. Het is uitgerust met eersteklas SIMRAD en FURUNO elektronica, evenals SHIMANO materiaal, outriggers en downriggers, wat zorgt voor een professionele en zelfverzekerde viservaring. De boot biedt plaats aan maximaal 4 passagiers en is rolstoeltoegankelijk.

Schipper Brian gebruikt een breed scala aan technieken, waaronder trollen, bodemvissen, levend aas en kunstaas, vissen met vlieger, sight casting, haaivissen, inshore vissen en speervissen.Afhankelijk van het seizoen kun je vangen: Blauwvintonijn, Geelvintonijn, Goudmakreel, Heilbot, Groenling (Lingcod), Gestreepte Marlijn, Californische Schaapskop, Sand Bass, Vermillion Snapper, Witte Zeebaars, Kreeft, Zwaardvis en meer.

Alle legale vangsten zijn voor jou om te houden, en schoonmaken is beschikbaar na de trip. Hengels, molens, materiaal en kunstaas worden verstrekt, terwijl levend aas kan worden geleverd of gevangen tijdens de trip. Gezinnen en kinderen zijn welkom, en gasten wordt geadviseerd om zonnebescherming, zonnebril, water en snacks mee te nemen. Alcohol is toegestaan in matige hoeveelheden (geen sterke drank of glazen flessen). Een lokale visvergunning kan vereist zijn, afhankelijk van de trip en doelsoorten.

We had an absolute blast on our 4-hour inshore bay trip with Captain Brian. It was the perfect family outing for our two kids (12 and 8) and my wife. From the moment we stepped on the boat, Captain Brian made everyone feel comfortable and excited.

He was fantastic with the kids — super patient, encouraging, and great at explaining everything in a way they could understand. He kept them engaged the whole time, and they had a ton of fun reeling in fish.

Best of all, he put us on two nice halibuts! It made the trip extra special and created memories we'll talk about for years.

If you're looking for a family-friendly charter in the bay with a knowledgeable, kid-friendly captain who actually gets you on fish, book with Captain Brian — you won't be disappointed!

Captain Morris provided an outstanding experience on our trip. He knows the area intimately and has great relationships with everyone we ran into as a normal course of going out on a charter - and is continuously picking up intel on what is hot and where as a result. He got us to where the fish were and knew what they’d go for. Additionally he is very personable, making for an outstanding experience. I will recommend Captain Morris to anyone seeking a private charter experience, and will seek him out next time I go fishing.

8 Hour Trip — Offshore op April 19, 2026 • 4 volwassenen

We decided to go for yellowtail in the Coronados although still a little early. Saw a number of whales and crazy pods of dolphins, which was pretty cool. Fish were sparse but the captain put in tremendous effort and we managed to get a nice yellowtail. We closed out the day with some deep bottom fishing and filled the cooler with rockfish, grouper and a mean looking lingcod. Brians boat is built for fishing, not lounging, but if you’re looking for a real fishing experience he’s a great choice.

Spent yesterday offshore fishing on the Fin Runner instead of golfing for this short 3 day trip

6 Hour Trip — Offshore op July 27, 2025 • 2 volwassenen

Came down here for parent/student orientation at SDSU this weekend, and my son and I decided to fish all day instead of going golfing. Captain Brian was great, and we caught some small fish in the bay, a halibut but too small, some spotted bass, a silky shark, a mackerel, but unfortunately we got skunked when we went out deep trying to catch the big fish. It's too bad that there wasn't even any action, but I've been out before and know it's a crap shoot any time you go out. Brian is knowledgable, friendly, and personable. He felt bad for us, but the fish just weren't biting or were down deep. My son and I had a great time though! Saw a school of dolphins, a seal was toying with us out in deep waters, . Just wish I captured a pic of my son with a prize bluefin or yellowtail, but don't we all want that! Next time we can fit it in, we plan to go out again with him. Thanks for taking us out! -Mike
