Halve Dagtrip (ochtendsessie) • 2 volwassenenSchipper Miguel en eerste maat Lino waren allebei geweldig - vriendelijk, betrokken en vol kennis over Panama, de lokale wateren, de natuur, de geschiedenis en natuurlijk de beste manier om wat vis te vangen! We voeren 30 minuten voorbij de vrachtschepen bij de kanaalingang naar de 100 voet diepte, waar we trollden en binnen ongeveer 5 minuten een Zwartvintonijn aan de haak sloegen. De beten bleven gestaag komen gedurende de volgende 90 minuten en we bootten 4 tonijnen en een mooie Goudmakreel. Lino fileerde de vis voor ons, en we eindigden met wat sashimi en ceviche halverwege de ochtend. Wauw! Het werd warm, dus we voeren naar Taboga voor een snelle rondkijk, en daarna terug. Het beste van Panama!

Dagtrip – Taboga Island • 4 volwassenenWat een geweldige uitstap! Om 8 uur 's ochtends hadden we al zoveel vis gevangen dat het begon te vervelen, dus gingen we op zoek naar moeilijker te vangen vis. Mijn zoon hoopte echt een Goudmakreel te vangen, zoals hij jaren geleden had gedaan. Hoewel dat er niet in zat, hebben we uiteindelijk wel 3 verschillende soorten gevangen. Onze schipper, Miguel, was geweldig! Hij serveerde ons verse tonijn sashimi direct op de boot. Toen we stopten bij Taboga voor de lunch, kookte het restaurant waar hij ons naartoe bracht ook wat van onze tonijn voor ons. Het was gaaf om de hele dag zoveel verschillende soorten schepen te zien en meer te leren over wat elk schip vervoerde. Bedankt voor een onvergetelijke dag!

Gevangen: een grote Zeilvis en een Goudmakreel, waarmee ze aan boord een heerlijke ceviche maakten, en wat extra voor de lunch op Toboga Island. Ook een tonijn gevangen, waarvan ze sashimi maakten, en een Tandbaars. Meerdere vissen hadden beet maar spuugden de haak uit voordat ik ze aan boord kon halen. Ik had niet gelukkiger kunnen zijn met de ervaring op de Blue Lobster met Miguel en Pooras. Ik zou de 8 uur durende charter aanraden, want elk onderdeel ervan was geweldig! Ik had geen enkel moment van de prachtige ervaring die ze me gaven willen missen!! Wat een dag op het water!!!

Halve Dagtrip (middagsessie) • 6 volwassenenWe hebben een geweldige tijd gehad op onze vistrip. De boottocht was snel en super leuk. Miguel en Boris zetten alle visuitrusting klaar terwijl wij gewoon genoten. Zodra er een vis beet had, was het onze beurt om te schitteren. Op een gegeven moment hadden alle 4 de lijnen een vis. Ze begeleidden ons en moedigden ons aan terwijl we ze binnenhaalde. We hebben in totaal 8 vissen gevangen, waarvan 1 een Goudmakreel. Boris maakte hem meteen op de boot schoon en binnen een paar minuten hadden we verse ceviche. Ik zou deze trip 100 keer opnieuw doen. We hebben het geweldig gehad. Grote shout-out aan Miguel en Boris voor het onvergetelijk maken ervan.

Dagtrip – Taboga Island • 1 volwasseneIk boekte de 8-urige tour in de hoop op wat Goudmakreel of Zeilvis - Na een veelbelovende start zakte de actie in. Schipper Miguel en Lino deden er alles aan om me op vis te krijgen, maar het was gewoon zo'n dag. Ze weten heel veel over de flora en fauna van het gebied en het land - dus ik heb veel geleerd en heb wat geweldig wild gezien terwijl ik probeerde iets aan de lijn te krijgen. Schipper Miguel legde voortdurend zijn plan uit en in het laatste uur hadden we eindelijk beet. Paardmakreel en Gevlekte Koningsmakreel vonden hun weg naar de boot en ik genoot van een lekkere sashimi. Al met al een geweldige ervaring. Je kunt de touroperator of bemanning niet de schuld geven van een langzame dag en het afval dat in het water dreef, wat leidde tot een beoordeling van 4 sterren.

Fishing in Panama during the rainy seaso

This week, we have been getting the first few rains of the season. This means nutrient-rich waters from the warmer South Pacific will attract microorganisms, which will then attract the upper stages of the food chain, in other words, bigger fish. Pelagics like tuna, mahi, sailfish, and Marlin will be our predominant bites until November.
This day, as we were passing the deepest waters on the way to the Pearl Islands, with an average of 200 feet deep waters, we encountered huge bait balls full of diving birds, which gave us the first indicator of fish around while deciding where to throw lines we spotted some dolphins. There's something that we can tell with dolphins: tuna. We started shifting our lures to cedar blocks on our trolling lines and had our spinning lines with poppers ready to cast them. Whenever we got a bite on the trolling Lines, we immediately cast those poppers and maximized tuna bites. Welcome to Panama game fishing mecca! Sail fish surpise!

The fishing species in Panama are pretty well marked mainly in 2 seasons:
The rainy season is in the summer; this time, the waters get warm, which is best for sea fishing. The other season is winter, which is not a cold winter (same temperatures as summer), but it's when the water gets chilly. And we focus on deep-water species.
However, between these marked fishing species seasons, there are unexpected species surprises! For example, since June, we've been getting a more active than usual number of sailfish on our bites.
From half-day trips to Extended trips, the extended South Pearl Islands and full-day Pearl Islands have the most sailfish catches. We practice catch-and-release for this species, and when possible, we board the species for a nice picture and then release it.
The most popular lures for attracting them have been Ballyhoo rigged with an artificial skirt and normal fake surface squids.
