The Mangrove Snapper bite has also been on fire in depths ranging from 35-120 feet. It’s a great way to keep the rods bent and the action nonstop all day long! ? ? Nearshore & Inshore ? Nearshore, the Cobia have moved into the 30-50 foot range, so keep those eels ready when chumming for Mangroves and Hogfish because you never know when a big one will show up behind the boat! Inshore, the Trout have moved into slightly deeper water and the bite has been good, but very tide-dependent. Redfish are beginning their coastal migration, and the outside islands, shoals, and channels are producing plenty of quality Reds ready to test your drag! ?? Fishing Report ? Inshore The redfish and snook bite has been pretty strong lately. Live shrimp, pinfish, and threadfins are all producing, especially around the outer islands on both incoming and outgoing tides. Trout are starting to move deeper, and artificial drift jigging has been one of the most productive methods. As long as the water is moving at the top or bottom of the tide, the bite has been turning on and off really well. Mangrove snapper, grunts, and even some hogfish are stacked up nicely on the shallower rock piles. Also, keep a sharp eye out for cobia cruising through. Offshore We’re ramped up for the upcoming snapper season, and the waters from 80–120 feet are where the action will be. Along with red snapper, you’ll find scamp grouper, lane snapper, and plenty of mangrove snapper. The larger red grouper are chasing bait, so keep an eye on your sonar around the deeper hard-bottom flats. Sardines and squid should continue producing well as the water temperatures rise.
