Fish the rich waters of Lake Michigan with one of the oldest and most established charters around. Fishing out of South Haven, Maykin Baykin Charters invites anglers of all ages and skill levels to join them on one of their exciting trips. The charter is operated by Captain Robert Braley, a local of the area, who has been fishing these waters since 1980 and started running charters not long after that.
Your boat for the day will be a 32' Blackfin Cruiser, powered by dual 330 HP Crusader engines. Onboard, you'll find top-quality communication and navigation equipment, such as GPS, a radio, and fishfinder. The vessel's also equipped with a refrigerator and an electric toilet. All the necessary safety equipment is also present, including life vests for guests of all ages. Children under the age of 6 are required to keep the vests on at all times.
On all Maykin Baykin trips, you'll be provided with world-class Shimano rods and reels, as well as all other tackle you'll need for the species you're planning on targeting during your trip. Up to 6 anglers can come along for any of the offered trips, and you can expect to have as many as 12 trolling lines down at a time. Get ready for plenty of action! You'll test your skills against some of the most prized lake species, such as King Salmon, Steelhead, and Lake Trout.
On the shortlist of things you need to bring along for your trip with captains Robert and Kevin are your choice of food and drinks, a valid fishing license, and sunscreen.

Trip started off slow and hard with 4 rods that went and we just couldn't get a hook to hold in a fish. A little time went by and we had another rod go and got a nice steelhead in the boat and that was the start to a great ending. we had slow and steady bites out to the end of the chater from there. we ended te evening with 1 lake trout, 3 steelhead, and 2 kings, one of which had to be close to 20lbs. Captain Kevin worked his butt off to put us on the fish. As he was packing up for the night we had a triple go and landed 2 of those fish. They did great as we had a 3 year old out with us. we will be back for anther trip in the future!
WOW! 🤩🤩 Captain Bob and 1st mate Kevin were amazing! This was our families first time being on a boat and to Lake Michigan. Our son who is 9 had the best time of his life. They really made this day memorable. We caught 10 out of 15 fish and to top it off we hit the GRAND SLAM! We caught all 5 species in our afternoon trip, bringing home lots of fish! If you’re looking for a charter I highly recommed this one. Captain Bob and 1st mate Kevin are very knowledgable and work very hard to get the fish. Thanks for the memories and looking forward to another trip with you soon!
We went out with Capt Kevin and Steve and these two guys were AMAZING! They did anything and everything to get fish on the line! We were a group on non-smokers and it was great to have a Capt. & 1st mate not chain smoking which we’ve experienced before. I can’t say enough good things about the trip, we had 4 of us and we caught 9 fish! Some monster trout and a salmon too! They worked the waters figured out what worked for that day and made got fish on the line. They were great people and handle the boat and us crew well and with respect! My only suggestion would be to tip in person, we tipped electronically cause it prompted me to (which was fine) but the experience we had I really wish I would’ve handed them cash to really say thank you! Thanks Kevin & Steve WE WILL BE BACK!
Captain Kevin was awesome, he worked hard all day to get us some good catches. First mate Steve was a joy to be around and had some great stories to tell. We had 4 people and caught 5 big fish. The boat was clean and well equipped, the crew was able to answer all of our questions, and we had a ton of fun. 100% will use this charter again. Top tier people, top tier fishermen. If the crew is reading this Marine Bob says hi.
We were setup with Capt Kevin and First Mate Steve for our trip (Capt Bob is the owner and your main contact). We’re very inexperienced anglers and had never being trolling on the Lake before. Kevin was a very experienced fisherman and definitely was quick to set out the rods and know when the fishing were biting. He is a very passionate fishermen. We caught 7 fish on our half day (2 Coho, 1 King, 4 trout). They made it very easy to enjoy the day and really put in the effort to find as many fish as possible. I’d highly recommend this charter for any experienced or novice angler.
