You will not find a harder working captain, in the business for his love and passion for the sport, than Capt Jeff Ross, owner/operator of F/V Obsession.
Jeff grew up fishing New England waters, working on 85 ft headboats for Bluefish and private boats for giant Bluefin Tuna and Sharks. He received a B.A. in Zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University (1974) and a M.A. in Fisheries Biology fromCollege of William & Mary (1979).
The Obsession is a 55' custom Carolina boat built specifically for charter fishing. You will not find a more comfortable, seakindly boat when the ocean gets rough. This is one of the dryest boats, and with a large keel, extremely stable when trolling. Obsession carries state of the art electronics including radar, fish finder, GPS chart plotters and satellite phone. Next year we will have a sonar!!
The Obsession is based at Pirates Cove Marina, Manteo, NC from where Jeff runs charters April to November to Gulf Stream heading offshore thru Oregon Inlet accessing a 120 miles of 100 fathom curve.
Fish for Yellowfin Tuna April thru July and September thru November; Blue Marlin May thru September; White Marlin June thru October; Dolphin April thru October; Bigeye Tuna May thru July, and Wahoo April thru November.
During winter, the Obsession travels to Isla Mujeres, Mexico where Jeff runs charters fishing waters off Northern Yucatan Peninsula; incredible light tackle angling for world's largest concentration of Atlantic Sailfish.
The Obsession's crew encourages angler participation and works with anglers interested in the finer points of rigging & hooking their fish. There is no yelling at customers on this boat, but plenty of coaching and encouragement! ALL fish caught are yours to take home.

Trip was Awesome. Booked Obsession Charters 55' boat for six of father son duos. Capt Jeff and 1st Mate Nick have yrs of exp, knowl, passion, prof, and focus of you having fun= catchin fish. Highly recommend! Our catch: 54 Mahi, 4 Tunas with 1 tuna and 1 Sailfish citations.
