The Goliath Guru is the name that Captain Tim Simos was given after catching hundreds of Goliath Grouper for his clients. The term Guru means 'teacher' and someone 'heavy with knowledge' on a specific subject. Captain Tim prefers to target Goliath grouper because they are the most powerful fish around and the most challenging. If keeping a Goliath interests you, then apply for a permit on FWC website during the first two weeks in October. If you are selected, schedule a trip from March 1 through May 31. You are almost guaranteed to get your slot Goliath as Capt. Tim is successful 10 out of 10 attempts at filling Goliath tags with 6 being over 30 inches. Fort Pierce is proving to be the best location for slot Goliath. About a third of the tags are brought by clients who have failed to fill tags on the West coast . Our family had a wonderful day fishing with Captain Tim. Tim is such a. great instructor -- everyone caught fish. His boat is always neet and clean (I fish with him several times each season) and Tim always puts you on the fish. You never know what you might catch! In Capt. Tim's boat I have caught well over 30 different species... from pan size snappers to over 400 lbs groupers. You never know what you will reel in! If you are looking for a guide who will put you on fish and show you the right tequnique, and fish in area that is teeming with fish, Capt. Tim Simos, Ft. Pierce Florida, is great choice!
