My earliest memories involve Fishing and being Outdoors with my dad and my family. I remember being super excited for the weekends because my dad would love to take me fishing whether it was walking out on the Galveston jetties or later going in our Bay boat I was always excited to be even a little part of the planning, preparation and travel to the boat ramp. Of course there was always a gathering of the bait either by cast net or buying it from the ramp shop. We always felt like if we did not have live shrimp we would not catch anything which of course I found later not to be the case, but my parents instilled in me at a early age, the beauty of the outdoors-freedom of fishing on the Galveston bay. I carry that excitement and energy throughout my life. I remember the day I got my drivers license. I hooked up to the boat and took it to the boat ramp. Later I became a fishing guide and spent nine years even more intensely learning all about Bait fishing and management and what that meant to catch a fish-more accurately to put customers on fish day after day. The experience speaks for itself, but the energy and drive it takes to be a Fishing guide is all about helping others especially kids. I love the unbiased energy and excitement of children on the boat. I love how they're excited about the live bair in the tank and asking me all kinds of questions that no one else may ask. I look forward to sharing time with you and your family on your fishing adventures.

    Hit the limit early!!

Captain Stephen was excellent to have as a captain with two teenage boys! He kept them both engaged the whole time by showing them different techniques and moving locarions often. he was also very patient with them and helped them while giving them room to trial and error. We hit our limit early with several trout and a 22 inch and a 27.5 inch redfish!! His boat was very clean and comfortable for the three of us in our party. i would definitely book another trip with him next time we vosot POC.

My boys' first trip with Captain Stephen

MANHÃ 5h BARCO Pesca isca incl3 adultos

I was so happy to see that Captain Stephen is running trips again! I've been wanting to take my teenage boys out for a while now and I immediately jumped at the chance when I saw he was back at it. As usual, Captain Stephen was super driven to put us on fish. He took us to several spots and was great about keeping bait on hooks to ensure our lines were in the water as much as possible! He was also good about snapping great pics for us along the way! We caught black drum, red fish, and speckled trout. We had a fish fry with family and friends the afternoon we got home and told them all about our trip. Needless to say, my boys and I had a great time! We can't wait to get back down to POC for another trip with Captain Stephen!

Windy weather and an early bite!

Captain Stephen did an outstanding job despite the wind blowing and 3 kids "7 and under" driving him nuts. He was patient and instructive with the kids. Fish were boated, fish were lost, lifetime memories were made.

We had a great time fishing with Capt Stephen. He took time to teach my wife and daughter some tricks of the trade. He got us on the fish and came home with some good trout.

October Bay Fishing: Trout, Redfish, Dru

set 17, 2026 • porto O'Connor
Here we are at the end of September, and the best month of the year is only a few days away—October! I have so many memories of great October fishing, on both warm days and those that come with a cool blast, that there are simply too many to count. They are great memories of times when the fish were thick and plentiful and the tides allowed me to run wherever I wanted with ease. The bull tides and moon-driven water are coming, filling back up these skinny bays that have exposed a myriad of sandbars and shell beds throughout the summer. Places that have been difficult or impossible to reach suddenly have water again, and that opens up a whole lot of country for both the fish and fishermen. The fish know what is coming, and so do I. Solid bites on lures and bait are the stuff fishing stories are made of, and October has produced plenty of them for me over the years. Cooler temperatures, shorter days, more fish and hungry bites—you name it. There are so many things about October that make it one of my favorite times of the year to be on the Texas coast. Now is the time to make that call and get on my books for some bay fishing around Port O’Connor and Seadrift. I realize there are plenty of other things competing for our time this month. School is in full swing, sports are going strong, hunting seasons are getting started and everybody seems to have somewhere they need to be. But you owe it to yourself to get down to the coast soon and add a good day on the water to all those other things tugging on your belt. It won’t be long before we’ll be duck hunting as well, so fall is shaping up to be a well- deserved break from the summer heat. Don’t misread that—I love summer too, especially those fantastic days when we’re catching limits of speckled trout along with a mix of redfish and drum. There is nothing wrong with a summer morning when everything comes together and the fish cooperate. But I’m ready for fall! I’m ready for those first cool mornings, higher tides and that feeling you get when you step outside before daylight and realize the season is finally changing. October doesn’t mean the end of our fishing season down here. In a lot of ways, it feels like the beginning of another one.
