Over the past week we have had multiple trips all foe giant bluefin tuna and gbe action has been exceptionally consistent. We have had multiple hook ups with several giants ranging from 250 to over 500 lbs with some sharks thrown in the mix. We still have some dates available in August but early September is filling up which is prime time!

July Fishing Report – Stripers Slow Down, The Reefs Heat Up July has brought a change of pace to the **Long Island Sound fishing scene**. The striped bass bite in our area has started to slow down, but the fishing certainly hasn’t slowed down with it. If anything, the **reef fishing has gotten a whole lot more interesting.** The **black sea bass are showing up strong**, and we’re seeing some absolute knuckleheads coming over the rail. These are quality fish that put a serious bend in the light-tackle rods and give anglers plenty of reason to keep fishing the deeper structure. Then there are the **big porgies**. We’re finding some real **hubcap-sized porgies, or golden sea bream**, showing up on the shallower reefs. They hit hard, pull surprisingly well, and make for some great light-tackle action. And we’re also getting into some **quality fluke**. The summer flounder bite has been producing some nice fish mixed into the reef action, adding another quality species to the list and keeping everyone guessing about what’s coming over the rail next. That’s what makes **July fishing out of Cedar Island Marine in Clinton, Connecticut** so much fun. Conditions change, fish move, and we adjust. Instead of spending the day waiting for a trolling rod to go off, our anglers are **holding the rod, working the structure and actually fighting the fish.** **Stripers slowing? Maybe. Our midshore bluefin trips are starting to heat up! we havent had to travel very far on pur last couple of midshore tuna trips. Whales and dolphins have been probing great entertainment between the bites. Fishing is improving daily and should blow wide ope any day!

Still some good stripers around on the right tide. This one fell for a small jig just off the bottom.

Good news. A lot of bass decided the stick around and stay this year. The bite has been very good a several spots on the outgoing tide. Jigs and topwater are all in play still!

Capt. Jesse had a charter this morning and ran out to the nearshore giant bluefin grounds and bagged this 86” giant bluefin! The charter group wanted to catch something big so Capt. made made it happen. Afrer pushing off at 5:30 AM Capt. Jesse headed over to Block Island, everyone grabbed a rod and helped hook live mackerel for bait. After loading the live well Jesse headed toward the area where the bite has been hot. Within 3 min of putting the first line out the rod goes off and 45 min later after everyone had a chance to reel, the fish was harpooned and landed! It doesnt get any better than this!
