This Summer is HOT!!

The redfish and snook bite have been pretty steady in the mangroves. The trout have been hit ir miss as the water warms up, but where they lack in number, they make up for in size. The nearshore rocks are also starting to heat up with the mangrove snapper and grunt bite picking up as well as black seabass for the first time in years. Cobia are still around, but the tarpon bite has neen hot/cold this season. Were still putting some great fish in the boat as we approach scallop season starting in July.

The spring transition is in full force. the trout are moving out onto the reef and the redfish and snook are working their way out of the creeks and rivers and into the outer islands and flats. The bait is becoming more plentiful, so switching from shrimp and shrimp profiles to a live bait fish or bait fish profile has been really effective. The trout on this trip were caught on a nose hooked fluke in white. The redfish were caught on a live mud minnow free lined into the mangroves.
