On the afternoon of July 30, we headed south of Divorce Beach and began trolling approximately 3 miles offshore. Our spread consisted of four artificial lures—a Petrolero, lime green, blue Flying Fish, and purple-and-white lure—along with a rigged ballyhoo (rigger bait).
Shortly after lines went in, a mahi mahi (dorado) aggressively struck the purple lure. After an exciting fight, we successfully landed the fish, giving our anglers an excellent start to the afternoon.
We continued trolling about 3 miles parallel to the coastline, and as we reached the waters off La Bufadora, a wahoo exploded on the rigged ballyhoo. The fish made a blistering run but managed to cut through the bait before a solid hookup could be established, escaping after a thrilling strike.
With one quality fish landed and another exciting opportunity, we returned to Cabo San Lucas Marina after another enjoyable afternoon offshore.
