Resumo da Viagem

On July 30, ADRENALINA departed Cabo San Lucas for an exciting 8-hour offshore fishing adventure, heading toward Cabeza de Ballena under calm seas and beautiful blue-water conditions. We began the day trolling a spread that included two Rapalas (gold/pink and gray/blue) along with three Hoochies in pink, green/yellow, and the ever-productive Flying Fish pattern. The action started almost immediately. At 6:47 AM, just minutes after setting the lines, a mahi mahi exploded on the Flying Fish Hoochie, but managed to throw the hook. Seconds later, another dorado attacked the pink Hoochie, only to come unbuttoned as well. The rods stayed busy as three skipjack tuna piled onto the Hoochies, providing plenty of action before being safely released. At approximately 7:40 AM, while trolling off Arroyo del Tiburón, another mahi mahi crushed the Flying Fish Hoochie. After a spirited fight, the crew successfully landed the fish. Only minutes later, two more dorado struck the spread—one again on the Flying Fish Hoochie and another on the pink Hoochie—but both managed to escape. The persistence paid off once more. At around 8:45 AM, while passing La Bufadora, another beautiful mahi mahi hammered the pink Hoochie, giving us our second successful catch of the day. Later in the trip, while returning toward Cabeza de Ballena, we received a report of yellowfin tuna feeding beneath a pod of dolphins near the Fiesta Americana area. We changed course to 160° and spent approximately 90 minutes working the school with multiple presentations, but the tuna remained reluctant to bite. To top off an outstanding day, our mate Luis prepared fresh mahi mahi ceviche (callos de mahi mahi) using the day’s catch, allowing everyone to enjoy an incredible meal while relaxing aboard. The trip perfectly combined exciting fishing, fresh seafood, and time to enjoy the beautiful waters of Cabo San Lucas. ⸻ Conditions * Calm seas throughout the trip * Crystal-clear blue water * Excellent mahi mahi activity * Yellowfin tuna feeding with dolphins * Ideal weather for offshore fishing ⸻ Summary * ? 2 mahi mahi landed * ? 3 additional mahi mahi hooked but lost * ? 3 skipjack tuna caught and released * ? As we reached the waters near the Lighthouse, the action quickly picked up when two sailfish appeared behind our spread at the same time. One sailfish began following a purple Piwi Pakula lure, while the second fish came in aggressively behind our spreader-bar teaser. The crew immediately presented a ballyhoo rigger bait close to the teaser, and the sailfish committed to the natural bait. The crew successfully worked the fish and ultimately completed an exciting double sailfish catch and release, with both sailfish safely released.
