Orange County fish report 8/11/2026 YELL

RockenReel Sporfishing reporting good warm 73 degree water holding Yellowtail south of the domes at Barn Kelp (67 boats there today) we got hit on the troll but popped off. My buddy got 6 yellows today. We only had the one strike. Scattered schools of yellows up and down the shoreline from Salt Creek - San Mateo. Some Dorado- anywhere from 3 miles and out! Big Bonito, Calico Bass, Sheepshead and Barracuda fishing right now. Yellowtail at the point right out front of Dana Point Harbor in 50- 70 feet of water! Yellowfin tuna are out there in the 10-12 mile range. - Captain Steve

RockenReel Sporfishing reporting great Yellowtail sportfishing right now! Put a few nice 20+pound yellowtail in the cooler today and a Mako Shark. YELLOWTAIL BITE HAS BEEN HOT FOR WEEKS!! The bite is ALSO good for Bonita, Bass and Barracuda and there are Mahi-Mahi ( Dorado ) out front as well. You might even get a Marlin! - Captain Steve

RockenReel Sportfishing reporting big Yellowtsil or also known as Amberjack in the 20-25 pound class. Seems like Dana Point is the only harbor that has live bait! We are way closer to the big fish in Dana Point Harbor. The fish are holding strong all week long and hopefully for the next few months just 8.5 miles out of the harbor at San Mateo! Lets get em.
