Fishing with kids

Today I was allowed to arrange a fishing trip that the wife had received as a surprise from her husband. It took getting used to the techniques we were using so it was difficult for my clients to catch fish. And when a nice pike finally grabbed the baitfish from my female guest, this fish was unfortunately lost. Because there are many large ides and asps on this water, I had thrown bread into the water all day long. And finally we saw the long-awaited eddies on the surface of the water. After I caught a big ide, my male guest also switched to ide fishing. And he knew that game right away. After a few big roaches he also caught a beautiful ide. On the way back we trolled and that resulted in 2 fat bass in the last 10 minutes.

This day I had the honor of hosting a birthday trip. On special request I came to water that is in the vicinity of the customer. That meant figuring out what could work well here. When the customer felt light bites I tried a smaller hook and then found out which baitfish was swimming around here. I caught a few of those to use as bait. But... there were no bites on this bait. So I advised a shad that matched the baitfish in color. And that worked for my guest; in addition to a missed bite and a pike shooting off the surface, a nice pike came on board. And I caught some nice perches myself with a smaller bait because I didn't want to catch the pike for my client.

Today we were with my Hobie-kayaks on the small river called Krommerijn in Holland. My guest came from South Africa and wanted to learn fishing in Holland. And he was lucky or ..... a good angler. Anyway, he catched his first pike ever in 8 minutes under the bridge where we started. Most of the time it brings bad luck to catch the first fish so early. But not today on the 13th (!) of July. After this pike he catched a beautiful zander and... another pike and another zander and another pike. And half way our trrip we catched some small perches and gobles from shore just for the fun and because they were new species for my guest. So we had a great day and some very nice catches in beautiful surroundings.
