Great Morning Trip

This fun family fished out of Venice and had an awesome morning catching great numbers of Redfish. After a quick run from the dock we put the trolling motor down and as we moved along the shoreline immediately started catching fish. For most of the morning it was a great Redfish bite mixed in with a few periods of Snook and Snappers.

What a great morning with a fun family< The kids did a great job of reeling in a bunch of Redfish, Sheepshead, Black Drum and Redfish and even left a few for the adults to reel in. After a couple hours of fishing we headed to one of the local beaches where they found a bunch of fossilized shark teeth and shells to end the day.

The boys wanted to try for Tarpon but the peak of Tarpon season is over and targeting them can be difficult at times. I moved is into an area of backcountry shoreline where I have been seeing some smaller tarpon rolling recently. Immediately we saw the first few fish roll and eventually landed a couple of these fun sized Tarpon. Afterwards we made our way north towards Sarasota Bay and the remainder of the morning targeted Snook and Snappers along structure and ultimately finding a large school of permit which produced double after double hook-ups for the remainder of the trip.
