Powderhorn Sportfishing – Reel Ginger 

I took my son and two nephews on our first charted fishing trip and had a great time! The crew was ready when we arrived, we wanted for nothing, and they made sure that our experience was top notch. Big thanks to Captain Nate and First Mate Brian for making sure our day was a success!

Our fishing trip with Tim at Lake Michigan was an awesome experience! When we arrived, the weather wasn’t looking great — the water was choppy, and there were some waves. Tim was very honest and professional about the situation. He carefully assessed the conditions, explained that it was safe to go out, but still gave us the option to cancel with a full refund if we weren’t comfortable. We decided to go, and it turned out to be the right choice — the weather cleared up, and we ended up catching six good fish despite the tough conditions. Tim was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone had a great time on the water. Highly recommend this trip!

This was our first time fishing out on big water. We typically just pond fish or off the side of smaller lakes. I booked this trip last minute; saw they had an opening and glad I did! Booking the trip was easy and they have a messaging system which I asked a few questions over and they responded back right away which was great! Our time was scheduled for 4-9p, but when I booked they suggested to leave at 5p (5-10p) instead for a greater chance to hit more fish.. (this shows knowledge and priority of putting customer first) We found the dock easily, met Bill and Dan and they thoughtfully gave us a few minutes to change/use bathroom. They both were helpful, made the time fun and comfortable, and were knowledgeable about any questions we were asking about fish/the boat/other fishing questions, etc. The boat fit me, my boyfriend, and 2 kids comfortably. It was a fun and relaxing ride out a little ways to where we dropped the lines.. we got a few fish right away! They were helpful and gave good instructions made sure everyone knew what to look for and how to reel. They helped us weigh and measure the fish; I enjoyed knowing the details.. all 4 in my group definitely got our personal records. We caught ELEVEN fish; mixture of different types of salmon and trout ranging from 7-16#! They said their average # of fish to catch during a trip is 6 or 7. During the downtime Bill and Dan were still actively looking at their screens to find where the fish were and raising/lowering lines, etc. They worked hard to make sure we would find some good fish.. some fish snuck off the hook, but they said that's normal and it happens sometimes. We got a few fish soon after dropping the lines, but then it was scattered- a little time without some and then we would catch a couple more. Time without fish biting was still enjoyable as we were in a boat out in the excitement of the water and relaxing views. As the sun started going down they were biting a lot and then-JACKPOT!! We had 4 fish hit all within the same minute. It was crazily exciting everyone running to the poles and helping each other reel. After we got back we watched as they showed us how to fillet and they bagged all our fish up; we left w fresh fish for months! An experience my family will always remember. It's an added bonus that they accept Venmo which I ended up using.

We had an absolutely amazing time on our charter fishing trip yesterday! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Bill & Nate were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They made us feel welcome and comfortable, whether we were seasoned anglers or complete beginners. The boat was clean, well-equipped, and spacious enough for everyone to move around easily. The gear provided was high quality, and the crew gave helpful tips on how to use it effectively. We hit several great spots and caught plenty of fish — more than we expected! What a work out we all had! What really stood out was the personalized attention. Bill and Nate made sure everyone had a chance to reel in a catch, and they were quick to offer assistance whenever needed. They even cleaned and bagged our fish at the end, which was a great bonus. If you’re looking for a fun, memorable, and professionally run fishing trip, I highly recommend this charter. Can’t wait to book again!

Thanks to Captain Nate for giving us his father's day morning. the fish kept him busy, and we had three in the box before he could finish setting lines. Very nice trip with lots of fish for the freezer. Captain Nate knows what he's doing, is good company, and highly recommended.
