Pacific Side Report – Mahi Action & Mult

On May 25, we headed toward the Pacific side, working approximately 1 mile offshore until reaching the Pueblo Bonito Pacífica area, where we changed course south and continued out to around 3 miles from shore. While positioned off Pedregal, a mahi mahi struck the rigged dead bait (rigger bait), resulting in our first successful catch of the day. Continuing in the same direction and passing off Cabeza de Ballena, another mahi mahi hit a ballyhoo rigger bait, but unfortunately escaped before landing. As we continued offshore, we encountered approximately 12 striped marlin throughout the area. We cast live bait, worked trolling lures, and deployed rigged baits, but despite multiple presentations, none of the marlin committed. On the run back toward port, off Cabeza de Ballena, another mahi mahi struck a “tigrillo” lure, but came off once it reached the leader. Immediately after resetting the spread, we hooked into a pair of jack crevalle, both of which were successfully released healthy. ⸻ Conditions: * Strong marlin presence offshore * Active mahi mahi throughout the day * Selective feeding behavior despite heavy surface activity ⸻ Summary: A technical offshore trip featuring: * 1 mahi mahi landed * 1 mahi mahi released * 1 mahi mahi lost * 2 jack crevalle released * Multiple striped marlin sightings and bait presentations Another action-filled day in Cabo waters with heavy marlin activity and steady inshore pelagic action along the Pacific side.
