Last-Minute Double Sailfish Release Aboa

On August 2, ADRENALINA 2.0, captained by Rubén López, departed Cabo San Lucas at 6:00 AM for a 4-hour morning fishing charter. We headed south and, at approximately 6:30 AM and 3 miles offshore, deployed our full trolling spread: red-and-black and purple short lures, a Flying Fish and Tigrillo on the long positions, plus a short rigged ballyhoo and a long live caballito. At approximately 5 miles offshore, we encountered a large pod of dolphins that stayed alongside the boat for nearly 25 minutes. Despite the promising activity, we couldn’t generate a strike. We continued south until reaching approximately 6 miles offshore near El Tule, where we turned around and began trolling back toward Cabo. Then, just when it looked like the morning might end without a catch, everything changed. Only 2 miles from the entrance to Cabo San Lucas Bay, a group of three sailfish suddenly attacked the spread almost simultaneously. Two went after the trolling lures while the third attacked the caballito. We successfully hooked two sailfish at the same time—one on a trolling lure and the other on the caballito. After two exciting fights, the crew brought them alongside one at a time. The guests were able to take photos before both sailfish were successfully released. We returned to Cabo San Lucas Marina at 10:05 AM, ending the trip with an incredible last-minute double.
