Captains Russ and Brenton are fantastic. Both extremely friendly knowledgeable and personal. Lots of fun to spend the day with. I’ve done three trips with them in the last few years. They’ve always put me on very large fish and large numbers. They will wear you out reeling in big fish. These guys know where the fish. I’ve taken many charter trips over the years and theses guys are by far the best I’ve ever gone with. Can’t wait for the next trip with them.

We booked the whole day trip charter, but we weren't able to go as planned. Mother Nature had other plans for us and kept us from going out to sea. What I wanted to emphasize is that Captain Russ had his eye on the weather and kept us updated with every weather change. The day of the trip he informed us that the sea was rough and let us know of the situation if we still want to go. We ended up canceling because we had a few people in our group who are prone to sea sick. I really appreciate his continuous contact. I would really recommend him and booking with him again when the weather is better.

Capt Russ and Mate Capt Brent made sure a good time was had by all. Caught lots of fish as Captain Russ knew where they would be. The boat was small but had everything you needed and ran beautifully. You can tell they take pride and have a passion for what they do. We had 5 and felt comfortable on a very hot day.

We had a great day with Split Shot team! The experience was great all around, with a good mix of fishing types, assistance at just the right times, and good conversations. The boat was comfortable and the team provided great service and a terrific recommendation to take some of the catch to Grilles restaurant where they “cook your catch” and wrap around some sides to make an amazing meal of super fresh fish. I highly recommend Split Shot.

My friend and I went out for a full day trip with Captain Russ and First Mate Jay on the first day of red snapper season. We first stopped off and grabbed some bait. Within a half hour or so we had a full livewell and headed out to kingfish territory. Russ got us set up with live baits on flat lines and it was fish on. Four kingfish in the box later, we headed out to do some bottom fishing in search of snapper. Fishing was a little slow and the weather was suboptimal, but Russ took us to many spots in search of our limit. Russ is extremely knowledgeable and, as a diver, he gave us descriptions of many of the fishing spots as we fished them. Russ knows a lot about biology and the ecology of many of the native animals and fishes and we enjoyed talking about that a lot. He's an expert captain who works his butt off to ensure you have a good, productive time. First Mate Jake was always on top of anything we needed and did a great job overall. Both Russ and Jake seem like really good guys and it was a pleasure fishing with them. The boat is in great shape, rode smoothly, handled very well and was very comfortable and fishable. It's equipped with everything you'd need for a perfect day on the water. Everything was taken care of while we returned to the dock - tired - with a full fishbox and the satisfaction of a day well spent. I'd love to fish with Russ again and would recommend Split Shot Charters without hesitation to novice and experienced anglers alike. I'd imagine an offshore tour would be fantastic, as well, and I'd like to get my wife and boys out with him for a full day in the future. Anyway, we had a great time!
