the result of “the Captain and deck hand hook ‘em then we reel ‘em in 20/30 feet is not a fishetman’s idea of salmon fishing , what a clever way to get to go fishing and get to make money at the same time … .

Very interesting you feel that way considering we caught multiple Salmon on a very overall “slow” day of fishing. Trolling with 4 rods in the boat ( all rigged exactly the same) and each rod had opportunites at fish, multiple fish hit the deck of my boat, (very nice fish at that), I’d consider a good day,but to each their own…. I do not have a “deckhand” and running 4 rods (4 people on board myself being 1 of them) was extra opportunity for you and it worked. When trolling, all the rods are in rod holders, identically rigged, it is the exact same odds/ bite opportunity for any of those rods… funny “reeling fish in 20/30 feet” when we were in 50 ft of water at times throughout the day, we had hard fighting fish that made runs, fought well… not sure what your “ idea” of salmon fishing was going to be, but myself, all us guides work closely, all do the exaxt same things to increase our odds of success, best opportunity at fish…
