Early Bird Fishing invites you to experience the stunning waters of Hamilton. Early Bird Charters is a family run business in Bermuda with over 30 years of experience run by Captain Jim West and wife, Melanie Fiander West. Together they offer sustainable deep and reef-sea fishing charters, swimming and exploring charters, and sunset cruises.
Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Almaco Jack, Skipjack, and more could be biting, depending on the time of year. You'll target your catch by light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Don't forget to bring snacks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Capt. Jim welcomes you aboard a 42' Custom Built Double Ender that holds up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There will be a Deckhand on board to help your trip run smoothly. For groups of 2 or more, Capt. Jim will add a 20% tip onto the total invoice.
The charter boat covers your fishing license; just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Had a fantastic day of fishing with Captain Jim and Marcus. The guys were super knowledgeable and walked us through everything they were doing and taught us a lot about the fishery. We caught amberjacks, black fin tuna and I also caught my first wahoo, which was the target species. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and couldn’t recommend Early Bird highly enough.
