If you're looking to fish the 10,000 Islands with someone who's been running these waters longer than most people have owned a boat, you're in the right place. With over 30 years in the backcountry, I know where the fish hide — and how to put you on them.
Depending on the season you might find yourself casting to snook, redfish, speckled trout, black drum, tarpon, and more. Most trips are light tackle spin fishing, but fly anglers are welcome. Just check ahead on gear if you're bringing your own fly rod.
We'll be fishing from a 2025 East Cape EVO 18 — built for speed, comfort, and sneaking into skinny water where the fish like to be left alone. She fishes two passengers comfortably and is rigged for a full day out.
I supply the rods, reels, tackle, and licenses. You bring whatever food and drinks you want. A beer or two is fine — just don't show up thinking it's a booze cruise. There's no room for that on a skiff.
Most trips are catch and release, though some non-gamefish may be kept.
Families are welcome. Kids take to this place naturally, and I'm happy with first-timers. Ask about child-sized life jackets or bring your own if needed.
A few things before you step aboard:
— Non-aerosol sunscreen only
— Hat and polarized sunglasses are non-negotiable
— Soft-soled shoes or sandals, no black soles
— A small dry bag if you want to keep things dry
