Palito Sportfishing – Tamarindo Beach
Palito Sportfishing welcomes you to the stunning waters of Tamarindo. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Edgar José knows them forwards and back.
These waters are known for Common Bream, African Pompano Jack, Mahi Mahi, Garfish, Bluefish, Almaco Jack, Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Longbill Spearfish, Bluefin Tuna, and more – with any luck, they'll make your reel scream. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light tackle. Capt. Edgar José can also have you kite fishing.
Trips with Palito Sportfishing are kid-friendly, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that everyone stays happy and energized!
You'll be casting lines from a 24' San Carlos Panga with capacity for 4 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks included on board.
Go ahead and treat yourself to a day on the water with Palito Sportfishing.
