Celodnevni izlet - Big Game ribolov • 4 adultsFished out of Ponta Delgada on August 4th on a cloudy day with pretty calm seas. Captain Drescher and his mate Augustine were ready to go and we were out on the water fishing quickly. The view of Sao Miguel from the water is pretty spectacular. The Blue Shark was a comfortable boat with a capable Volvo engine. Captain Drescher had updated gear(Penn and Shimano reels) and many lures to choose from. Many designed by Captain Drescher himself. Really beautiful lures. The fishing….we went after large marlin hard to start off with and had a full spread in the water 30 minutes after we left the marina. Gerhard spotted a blue, but couldn’t get him interested. We trolled for awhile and then made our way out to one of the banks. Augustine made us a delicious lunch and switched out the lures to go after bigeye tuna. Just after lunch the sun came out and it was a beautiful day and we saw birds. Within minutes we had a large bigeye hooked. Unfortunately weren’t able to land it, but immediately had another on the line. Pulled in a 200lb bigeye all the way into the boat!! Lots of excitement. And once we released and set up again…boom!! Another bigeye. This one over 300lbs and too big to get in the boat!! Augustine was a great helping us get both fish to the boat. He was working hard. We could have caught tuna there all day but Captain Drescher knew we were after marlin so moved out to seek the big marlin again. Unfortunately we weren’t able to hook one, but the captain did everything he could to try and make that happen. Changed lures, piloted to different spots, etc. Captain Drescher went all out and I never once felt like he was watching the clock. He wanted the fish as bad as we did. Headed in because the calm conditions we had been in all day changed and it was getting late. Captain Drescher safely maneuvered us back to the marina and we called it a day. Captain Drescher knows these waters and knows where the fish are and I look forward to fishing with him again. He’s a real pro with a good boat and an experienced mate in Augustine. I’d highly recommend Gerhard to anyone interested in fishing the Azores. Can’t do better than Captain Drescher. And he’s also a damn good DJ…

Celodnevni izlet - Big Game ribolov • 5 adultsCaptain and mate Augustin were top tier. Classic 38 Betram with plenty of space. Tough 2 days looking for Marlin but Captain put us on some nice Big Eye tuna. Would fish with again.
