Hi, I'm Captain Tony Polizze. Originally from the Jersey Shore, I grew up in Wildwood Crest and Cape May, New Jersey—where my love for fishing began the day I landed a 38' striped bass right off the beach. From that moment on, I was hooked. Growing up, I spent my summers fishing up north and my winters down in South Florida, where I explored the waters of the southeast and southwest coasts—and eventually, the Florida Keys. The contrast between northern and southern fisheries shaped me as an angler, giving me a deep respect for the challenge and strategy each species brings. Even now, I'm always thinking through how to land the next trophy fish these beautiful waters have to offer. Today, I'm proud to call the Florida Keys home and run my fishing charter out of Big Pine Key—right in the heart of some of the best fishing in the world. From backcountry, bridge, and patch reef fishing to thrilling offshore trips, there's always something exciting to chase in any season or condition. But fishing isn't the only thing that drives me—family is everything to me. My wife and I share a deep love for the ocean and the lifestyle that comes with living in the Keys. We've spent countless days together exploring these waters, and it never gets old. We're raising our two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Claudia, to appreciate the same sense of adventure, nature, and connection that fishing brings. One of my greatest joys is sharing this experience with other families—especially kids. I love teaching children how to fish and seeing their excitement when they reel in something colorful and wild. For me, fishing is about more than just the catch. It's about the experience, the patience, and the lasting memories created on the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-time fisherman, I invite you to join me for an unforgettable day on the water. Let's create memories that will last a lifetime. Tight lines, Captain Tony Your Fishing Guide to the Florida Keys

Captain Tony uses a variety of effective fishing techniques tailored to the conditions and target species of the day. Whether you're casting light tackle near the bridges, bottom fishing over the reefs, or drifting along the backcountry channels, there's always action to be had. He incorporates methods like spinning, jigging, and cast-and-retrieve to keep anglers engaged, while trolling is occasionally used when conditions are right. From light tackle for snapper to heavy tackle for battling big sharks or grouper, Captain Tony ensures every trip is hands-on, educational, and fun for all skill levels.

Mid‑August Mangrove & Yellowtail Bite
Mid‑August Mangrove & Yellowtail Bite
Avg 12, 2026 Big Pine Key
Mid-August Lower Keys Fishing Report The Mangrove Snapper bite continues strong as we head into mid-August. This is primarily an early-morning fishery, and Mangrove Snapper can be found in the deep channels of the backcountry, around patch reefs, and along the reef edge. Getting an early start and presenting your bait naturally can make all the difference. The Yellowtail Snapper bite has been decent on the reef, but finding current and staying stealthy with your presentation is important. The water is extremely clear right now, and if you can see the fish, they can see you! Light leaders, natural presentations, and a little patience can go a long way. There are also plenty of Cero and Spanish Mackerel around, hitting both live and dead baits on the surface. Be sure to have some wire leader ready because these fish can show up fast and make short work of lighter tackle. The bridge fishing has slowed a bit this week. Floating weeds moving through the bridges, combined with the summer heat, has made things more challenging. That said, this fishery can wake up at any given moment. Bridge fishing is all about the hunt, timing, tides, and moving current. Staying dialed in to the solunar feeding periods can help close the gap when conditions are tough. Offshore, the Mahi bite continues, although the amount of floating weed has made trolling more challenging. There are still plenty of fish to be found. Keep your eyes open for birds, floating debris, weed lines, and any other signs of life. When you find them, be ready with plenty of chunk bait to throw at the school and keep the action going. The Lower Keys are still producing plenty of opportunities this August. Get out early, stay mobile, and be ready when the bite turns on. Tight lines and happy fishing! Capt. End Of July Fishing Report.
End Of July Fishing Report.
Jul 23, 2026 Big Pine Key
End of July Fishing Report – Lower Keys & Big Pine Key Summer fishing is in full swing here in the Lower Keys, especially around Big Pine Key, and the action has been steady! We’ve been focusing on the deep channels throughout the backcountry, where they act like underwater highways for fish on the move. Early mornings and late afternoons have been the most productive, as the fish tend to move deeper during the heat of the day. The backcountry has been producing plenty of Mangrove Snapper, Barracuda, Sharks, and even a few Red Grouper. Over at the Bahia Honda Bridge, there are still resident Tarpon around, although they’re becoming more scattered. This week we also landed a nice Goliath Grouper, along with plenty of snapper action and some exciting barracuda and shark chase-downs that kept everyone on their toes. The reef edge continues to hold good numbers of Yellowtail Snapper, Cero Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, and a variety of other species. Setting out a spread has been producing action, and you never know what’s going to show up behind the boat. We also keep a jig and a few spoons ready to cast at surface-feeding fish whenever the opportunity presents itself. The Mahi-Mahi bite is on, but it’s definitely a hunt. The sargassum weed is finally beginning to bunch up into defined weed lines, creating excellent trolling opportunities. Keep an eye out for birds, floating debris, and clean weed edges—when you find them, it’s game on! At the end of the day, it’s not just about the fish—it’s about making memories with family and friends while enjoying everything the Florida Keys has to offer. Tight lines, and we’ll see you on the water! Capt. Tony Florida Keys Island Fishing ? Big Pine Key & Lower Keys **hidden content**

Fish On!
Fish On!
Jul 3, 2026 Big Pine Key
Lower Keys Fishing Report – July 3, 2026 Fishing has been good, but understanding the tides and using the right tactics will put you on the bite. We are currently in a waning gibbous moon phase, heading toward the last quarter moon on July 7. As the water temperatures continue to rise, we’re entering prime time for the Mangrove Snapper spawn. The deep channels in the backcountry have been producing well, as fish are moving down the water column in search of cooler water. Working the bottom with fish-finder and knocker rigs can reward anglers with quality grouper and snapper. Setting out live baits on the surface can quickly lead to hookups with mackerel and barracuda—not to mention the sharks that always seem to show up. The bridges continue to hold good numbers of fish, including both Mangrove Snapper and Mutton Snapper. Plenty of other species are mixed in, so come prepared with several leader setups and be ready when the bite turns on. The reef edge is holding an abundant amount of Yellowtail Snapper. Chum is the name of the game, and fishing in 70 to 80 feet of water along the edge is producing some beautiful tails. There are also plenty of King and Cero Mackerel in the mix, so keep a wire rig ready and send out a live ballyhoo for your chance at a screaming run. Solunar Outlook: With the waning gibbous moon, the best feeding windows this week should occur around sunrise and again during the late evening into the overnight hours as the moon rises later each night. Plan your trips around moving water during these periods for your best chance at success. Fishing is good in the Lower Keys… Let’s Go!
