Compared to other spots in Mexico (like Cabo or Cancun), I think it takes a little longer to get out to where the fish are in PV. Whereas I can do a 4-hr trip in Cancun and have a great day of fishing, I think great fishing begins at 6-hrs in PV.

if you’re looking for big size mahi-mahi be sure to come during the right season. They get way bigger than what we caught, we were just happy to have caught some at all.

Make sure to prepare a lunch and drinks, as only water is provided. The crew only gets paid in tips which 20-25% is expected. There is also a $47 mxd per person marina fee to be paid before boarding.

If you want to catch big fish then book a whole day, if you’re happy just catching a couple decent fish with the kids then 4 hours is great!

I would recommend going for a combo of smaller (for us: Bonita, Spanish Mackerel, Skipjack) and larger (for us: Amberjack) catches. We wanted a fun day and didn't target a larger catch that's harder to target.

There are a lot of fish but they are fast swimmers so don’t be sad that you miss them before you catch them. You will have plenty of chances to get another school. The fish are plentiful.
