Half day, evening trip with Capt. Gene
I took my wife and son on an evening trip with Captain Gene yesterday & had a whole lot of fun. Bay conditions for the first couple of hours were pretty rough & the current was flowing crazy fast. Gene took us to a few different spots where we landed a couple of tiny gags, a stonefish & an almost keeper red snapper. As the sun dropped, water conditions improved and Gene put us on a GREAT spot where each of us caught really nice, hard fighting, slot sized redfish along with a rat red and a couple of catfish. As the trip wound down we hit some underwater green lights that were holding a good number of skipjacks & trout but unfortunately, the only fish biting there were shrimp theiving piggies. Even with the rough conditions during the first couple of hours of the trip, Captain Gene worked diligently to put us on good fish. He was friendly, clearly knows the area, was great with my wife and kiddo and very good at multi tasking... controlling the boat while re-rigging lines that got hung up and had to be cut loose, quickly rebaiting hooks, efficiently landing fish and impressively handing a triple hookup at one point. Captain Gene will definitely be my first choice for any future inshore / nearshore trips in the Pensacola area.
