Great tour guide and amazing fishing trip!
I absolutely recommend booking with Captain Mendez for fishing in Puerto Rico. We had an amazing time with him. Considering all the places someone could possibly fish here, Capt. Mendez took us to a specific spot and got us on fish FAST and reliably. The amount of action was unbelievable, there were bites consistently from all sizes of Tarpon. This was my first time targeting tarpon and I have to say it was epic, he got me up to speed with everything I needed to know about them and already had the boat rigged with the exact gear needed, drinks, and everything else you will need. Within 10 minutes of setting up at the spot we already had our first Tarpon ripping drag and jumping out the water like a movie. I really couldn't believe it. I have never seen someone get on fish so quick, little did I know the rest of the day would be filled with more extreme Tarpon action. I also didn't know, but these fish are STRONG, the fight I had with the biggest one we had caught was honestly unbelievable and lasted around 10 minutes. I'm used to bass fishing ponds, and I can tell you this right now. You will be FIGHTING these fish and having the time of your life. You need to book with Capt. Mendez if you are looking to catch some of these beautiful, strong, Puerto Rican Tarpon. He will get you on fish and keep you on them all day. At one point during the day approaching midday, I saw about 5 different charter guides ripping through the water ways past Capt. Mendez spot going back and forth from various spots looking for fish. At that moment, I knew I had the best captain in the area. Almost no time was wasted on finding fish, my whole tour time was FIGHTING & CATCHING Tarpon! Capt. Mendez is also just a great guy, very kind, knowledgeable, and a well seasoned fishermen. I would not put my trust, time, or money into any other guide fishing for Tarpon in Puerto Rico. Have fun!
