Highly recommend spending a day on the water with Captain Shawn! He’s a great communicator and his fishing enthusiasm + knowledge is next level. He called the day before our trip and said the tarpon were biting… a fish my 15 year old son and I had dreamed about but never landed. Shawn put us on the fish and was really patient with us tarpon newbies, teaching us about tarpon habitat and catching techniques. We caught multiple tarpon (among other species) and my son declared it “the best day of fishing” he’s ever had. We’ll definitely go out with Shawn next time we’re in Islamorada.

We did a 2 hour sunset trip with our 2 boys ages 12 and 9. Captain Shawn was very knowledgeable of the area. His boat is very comfortable and my kids were reeling in fish left and right. Captain Shawn was very patient with our kids as they are pretty new to fishing. He was cracking jokes and had them feeling comfortable and confident quickly. We seen a crocodile, shark and some manatees as well. Captain Shawn filleted a few of our fish for us and after our trip we went over to Lorelei and they cooked up our fresh catch. The whole experience was a lot of fun and our kids said it was the best part of our trip. We will definitely be coming back for the 4 hour trip next time we are in Islamorada.

We had a great half day with Captain Shawn on the morning of July 29th 2021. He was very patient and kind with our two boys, ages 9 &5. He took us to great spots and we literally started catching fish after fish upon our first cast. Within 15 mins all 4 of us had caught multiple fish. I want to say in all we caught around 40 fish. We caught 20+ snooks, 10+ snappers, 1 zebra looking fish (forgot name), and almost had a tarpon. To add to the experience & excitement we had a 300lbs bull shark trying to snag some of our fresh catches for the around 45 mins of our trip, which our boys loved. Capt Shawn had great custom rods and gear and a brand new boat. Everything was super clean and nice. We had a wonderful trip and will recommend Capt Shawn to all our friends and family.

Shawn was great. He was punctual, kind, and made the experience really fun for everyone on board. Shawn was knowledgeable of the fish we wanted to catch and kept things entertaining and fun at all times. I would highly recommend using Shawn to anyone looking for a great time in the keys. We will definitely be booking again.

Our half day trip with Shawn to the Everglades was one of the highlights of our trip. His boat was top notch and he knew exactly where to find the fish. He was kind and patient with our boys (ages 8 and 12) who had a ton of questions for him, and made our time on his boat very memorable. We have been on several fishing charters and this one was undoubtedly our favorite. If we could do it again, I would definitely opt for 3/4 or a full day trip. It was worth every penny.

We had a blast! Caught a ton of fish, at least 6 different species. Got into some big Snook and a ton of Redfish. Would definitely recommend and book again.

This experience was one of the highlights of our vacation! We almost always go out on a charter when we go on vacation and this one ranks up with the best. Cpt Shawn is very knowledgeable about the local area, the boat was clean and comfortable with room for all 4 of us to fish and he put us on fish. Several different species, in fact! Shawn was great with our teenage boys and will definitely use him again on our next visit to The Keys! Highly recommend.

We ventured out to the Everglades. Wind was high, but this did not deter our Captain from going fishing (first plus point!). Shawn is a great expert of all the keys, islands, inlets. We visited about 10 locations in a 6 hour trip. Fishing was somewhat quiet, so he took us to remote places, just to make sure the boys catch something (another plus point). Shawn is very good with children; patient, generous with his time, kind, and teaching them about the fish, the tides, the fishing, and everything associated (+1 again). We would definitely go fishing with him again, as we all enjoyed every bit of the trip.

My nephew and I had a blast trying for the back country slam on a full day trip with Captain Shawn. We only accomplished 2 out of 4 slam species but not for lack of chances. We caught a bunch of snook and a couple redfish, a Goliath grouper, and bunch of other little stuff. The Tarpon we saw just weren’t hungry (including a massive 100 pounder!) We had several chances at sea trout, but I just couldn’t close the deal. Shawn worked his butt off for us and put us on the fish. He was professional, knows what he’s doing, and is great to hang out with all day! I definitely recommend the full day if you can swing it, since the better fishing grounds are farther away and you can try a variety of methods.

Great day on the water. Capt. Shawn was great with our two teenage boys. We didn’t catch a ton of fish but we were able to haul in several nice snook, a small tarpon and several other species. He worked hard and tried multiple locations to find fish. Overall, I would definitely recommend Capt. Shawn and Prime Time Fishing charters. He is a native to the keys and really knows his stuff.
