30 Fathom Charters 

Five of us fished with Captain Kristian of 30 Fathoms Fishing Charter out of Newburyport on August 6th, and we had a fantastic morning on the water. We left at 6:00 a.m. to beautiful weather—sunny skies, light winds, and calm seas. We started by fishing for bait and immediately found a school of mackerel. We had jigs on four lines, and as soon as they hit the water we were pulling up three, four, and sometimes six fish per line. Fishing is fun, but catching is better—even when it’s just the bait! The action was nonstop, and we quickly had all the mackerel we needed. Captain Kristian clearly knows the area well. He grew up locally and is friendly with the other captains, letting a few of them know where we were hooking up before we set off for striped bass. It was a bit of a run along Plum Island, but the twin Suzuki outboards on the boat made quick work of it. Once we reached the Parker River, Kristian got the rods set up and we started drifting the outgoing tide. After a few uneventful drifts, we moved to another location and immediately got hooked up with a beautiful, fat 39-inch striped bass. We made a few more drifts and landed another fish of about the same size. The four hours flew by, and by the time we headed back we were already wishing we’d booked a longer trip. The boat is well set up to maximize your time with lines in the water, and Kristian did a great job keeping things moving and helping whenever we needed it. One thing to know is that Kristian was running the boat without a first mate. That wasn’t an issue for us—he handled tangles, cut lines, and everything else that came up very capably. However, if you’re booking a trip with a group, it definitely helps to have at least one or two people who are comfortable putting bait on hooks and unhooking fish so the captain can stay focused on finding and catching fish. Overall, it was a great trip with great weather, plenty of action, and two very nice striped bass. Captain Kristian knows the local waters, runs a fast and capable boat, and clearly wants his customers to have a good day. We had a blast and would definitely consider booking with 30 Fathoms again—next time, we’ll probably book more than four hours!

our group had so much fun with the captain and the beautiful boat got rite on bait fish then rite on big striper between 6 of us we hooked up on like 13 fish landed 10 captain was a very friendly guy an booking was easy even quick with last second questions definitely go with this charter if possible there was 6 of us and we all were very comfortable on the boat

Captain was great, freandly, conversational, and took really good care of us. We caught 4 big striped bass—one small enough to keep for dinner. was fun to catch the mackerell also—usually we dont get to take part in that with fishing tours like these. Everything was perfect and bonus bathroom on ship!

Went out with my 8yo and Kristian totally understood the purpose of the trip. We focused on making sure my son had a good time without staying out on the water for too long. Perfect afternoon!

Captain Kristian was awesome. We were into stripers all morning. He knows his waters and it was a blast fishing with him. Would highly recommend!!!

Our first time as a family on a Charter and Captain Kristian made us feel safe and welcome. He was very informative about everything and made our experience great. Weather at first wasn’t great, but then it was beautiful. So fun, 10/10 recommend, would do it again.✨☀️🐟🐠🎣🐡

Captain Christian and 1st mate Anna made our first ever family lobstering trip unforgettable! Anna reached out before the trip to make sure any questions were answered. They both were so friendly, knowledgeable, fun and welcoming. The boat is beautiful, comfortable and luxurious. The docking location was easy to find and even easier to park at (especially during a festival weekend). The trip was a perfect amount of relaxing, hands on fun and lobstering! We learned a lot about the area and caught 5 legal sized lobsters to feast on at home. Fun for the whole family. I HIGHLY recommend 30 Fathom Charters for any charter. We will definitely make this an annual lobster trip and will be joining them for a fishing trip before the summer is over.

We had a really great family day with perfect weather! Both my son (13) and nephew (12) caught stripers I also caught 2 and my father caught one! We had a lot of fun catching the mackerel for the bait as well!

Captain and first mate warned us about 50% chance of rain. ☔️ Our schedule didn’t allow for a different day. Both did what they could to make our day as enjoyable as possible. Shared history of the area, talked about their family and explained the gadgets in the boat. At the end of the 4 hours we were successful. Wet but smiles on faces while holding a fish.
