It was a tough morning given the rain that was coming down in the area the Captain planned to take and having to start at a different location but the Captain was determined for us to get fish. We had lost some big ones in the morning which was still thrilling. In the afternoon we moved to a new area he had worked before and BAM we hit paydirt. Had some great fights and brought in some beautiful tuna. Captain Cook did a great job and made the day a success.
Foggy ride out went without a hitch capt Andy had us on fish all day . We ended up with a cooler full fish after so many missed opportunities. The sharks were a real pain, but were mixed with big tuna. Wahoo was the catch of the day. Thanks again for a great day Andy looking forward to the sword fishing trip
I highly recommend Capt Cook for any fishing Trip, Top Rate. Due to a lot of bait fish Tuna were hard to find. But Capt did all his tricks to find fish. We trolled oil rigs, chummed and dropped bait, followed shrimp boats, chased birds to find fish, and fished the Lump. We caught 2 Black fin on first troll. Caught Bonita and several shark. On way back we hit an oil rig again, and the Blackfin were boiling the surface. We caught 13 more blackfin in the 13 to 18 lb range. Jason the mate did superb in all his duties, kept the boat clean after every fish. They both have great personalities. If yellowfin would have been bitting, I know we would have caught our share. Fish with Capt Cook.

We had the time of our lives. Best fishing day ever!!! Everyone caught fish, and the battle was REEL! The entire experience was worth the sunburn, the money and the fatigue from the fish fights. Anytime we want to charter, we will call Andy! We caught yellow fin tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, and a massive 244 lb. sword fish that took about 90 minutes to reel in. Best part of the entire trip is that he included our kids in everything from catching bait, catching fish, to cleaning the fish. Thanks Andy and first mate Jake for the memories of a lifetime!
I am an avid fisherman and have been on many charters and even my own boat. This trip with Captain Andy Cook by far was the best experience my family has ever had together for big tuna. It was a rough water day, but Captain Andy still got us out to the fish within 2 hours. Although we were scheduled the day before Andy and his experience on the fish and catch suggested that we wait one more day for the better Yellowfin day, even though he was willing to take us on our scheduled day. We took his advice and went the next day and He was exactly right. By 1PM We limited out and wore ourselves out on big tuna and still had time to catch some big bottom fish. Fishing for the Yellowfin is kind of a tricky task, but the Captain and Deckhand were great at taking the time with my teens to show them how to land the big ones in the boat. At the end of the day we had caught not only the largest fish but also the most fish out of all other tuna boats that went out that day. Andy's secret to the baiting worked very well and is what gave us the most catch of the day. What a trip !

We had a blast!! We had a full boat of guys ready to fight fish and Andy did just that we had fish peeling line off most all day caught big fish all day long. And Andy and his first mate did a awesome job of cleaning our fish when we got done. With out a doubt if u want action make sure u book with captain Andy and tell him u want Wahoo.

We have been on many fishing trips from Jamaica, Cabo, Florida, and Toledo bend. This was by far the best fishing trip and overall experience we have ever had. We limited out on snapper first thing. They put us on some tuna which was our goal and despite losing one and not getting it in the boat, we still can say we had the time of our lives. The captain and deckhand were accommodating, friendly, fun, and patient with some challenging guests.
Went fishing with Captain Andy in October. Pulled up to a shrimp boat maybe 15 miles from where the Mississippi River ends. We were on fish the first time we dropped our lines out. We kept catching fish one after another and it seemed like they were getting bigger and bigger. It was an excellent day of Yellowfin tuna fishing along with multiple Bonita and Blackfin tuna. One of the best I've ever had. The thing I probably like most about fishing with Captain Andy is that the experience is all hands on with the customer. From baiting hooks, dropping lines down, to catching the fish. So what if you miss a bite. You are the one that is actually doing the fishing. I've been on trips where the
My friend an I chartered with Captain Andy Cook. We fished on Andy's 38 foot Fountain. It was a extremely fast boat, and cut thru the chop well. We were at the fishing grounds before anyone else. The captain knew exactly what to do. We caught our limits of yellowfin tuna within a few hours. Four fish over 100 pounds, with the largest weighing in at 172 pounds! It was an awesome day of fishing that exceeded expectations. At the dock, the fish was cleaned beautifully. It's delicious!
The thing about captain Cook is he does whatever it takes to put you on fish. If that means leaving the dock 2 hours before everybody else he does it If it means being the last boat back he does it. He is not a clock watcher. The boat is a rocket ship which means more time fishing less time running. Captain Cook has a network of knowledgeable captains that share information with him so he stays on top of what's going on with many species. We have caught tuna , marlin, dorado, grouper and others from his boat. I highly recommend Captain Andy Cook

Not sure if there is an actual Capt Andy Hook who has a boat in Venice, LA. Booked with this guy only to have a completely different Capt/boat show up without being told who he was until on the boat. No Mate, started and hour later, no bait, no rigs that were promised for bottom fishing, electronics didn’t work, faulty equiptment, rusty equiptment, just wild. Weird part was, I could of booked with this capt cheaper than this supposed Andy guy. Caught in a wicked storm for about an hour and a half under an oil rig while other boats in the area bailed when they sae the storm coming, had to catch our own bait which took hours. The only saving grace, (by what I believe was shear luck) this capt had one squid rig he dropped “for bottom fishing” and at 3:38pm we latched onto and brought in a 200lb swordfish on a pole that snapped an hour in on a 3hr fight with the capt hanging over the side of the boat hand lining a half crank at a time. it was an incredible feat that has an unbelievable lifetime story that goes along with it, but we came for tuna, other boats caught quite a bit of tuna and whatever else that day. Had it not been for that swordfish, a mutiny was abroad. The tensity between the capt and us 5 was almost to a boiling point because of how un prepared he was and doing what we paid for. it was almost like he knew he was going to fish for 1 swordfish from the start of the day. (considering he only had 1 rig set up with a squid on it) I did learn a valuable lesson about Venice tho…. Ask more question leading to the day, inspect everything on the boat before you leave the dock, and get the actual captains name before you leave the dock.
